About this opportunity:
Design, implement, operate and troubleshoot network infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and performant connectivity across Ericsson test environment and R&D labs globally. Support projects, changes and incidents; contribute to automation, documentation and continuous improvement.
What you will do:
- Analyse and evolve the lab network framework in alignment with RAN, security, and broader technical requirements.
- Define design principles, standards, and reference models for lab networking environments.
- Translate complex technical requirements into clear, structured network concepts and documentation.
- Contribute to network related initiatives by providing design input, impact analysis, and solution recommendations for upgrades, migrations, and new services.
- Support architectural decision making by assessing scalability, resilience, security, and long term maintainability of network solutions.
- Perform technical analysis of network behaviour, performance trends, and recurring issues to drive continuous improvement.
- Produce and maintain high quality technical documentation, including design descriptions, diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, and change records.
- Define best practices and guidelines related to configuration management, standardisation, and automation approaches.
- Act as a technical counterpart to security, systems, cloud, and application teams to ensure alignment across solutions.
- Review vendor and service provider solutions from a technical and architectural perspective.
The skills you bring:
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing and switching concepts, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, and layer 2/3 design principles.
- Experience with modern data centre and lab networking concepts such as leaf spine architectures and EVPN/VXLAN, with focus on conceptual understanding and design trade offs.
- Solid theoretical and practical understanding of IPsec, security gateways, and secure connectivity models.
- Good knowledge of core network services (IPv4/IPv6 addressing strategies, NAT, QoS, DHCP, DNS) from a design and planning perspective.
- Understanding of network security principles, including segmentation models, access controls, VPN concepts, and secure design patterns.
- Strong analytical and study driven mindset, with the ability to read, understand, compare, and evaluate technical documentation, standards, and vendor materials.
- Proven technical writing skills, including the ability to produce clear, structured, and high quality documentation such as design descriptions, guidelines, decision papers, and technical summaries.
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into well structured written material for different audiences (engineers, stakeholders, decision makers).
- Familiarity with enterprise networking platforms and ecosystems (Cisco, Juniper, Extreme Networks, etc.), focusing on solution behaviour and architectural intent rather than device level operation.
- Understanding of monitoring and telemetry concepts (SNMP, NetFlow/IPFIX) and how performance and capacity data is interpreted and documented.
- Awareness of automation and Infrastructure as Code concepts, with ability to define standards, reusable patterns, and documentation supporting automated approaches.
It's an advantage if you have:
- Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP), including virtual network design and hybrid connectivity models.
- Relevant certifications (CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA, Palo Alto/FortiNet, AWS Advanced Networking, or similar).
- Experience contributing to IaC, CI/CD, or orchestration initiatives from a design or governance perspective.
- Understanding of zero trust principles, NAC concepts, and advanced security architecture integrations.
Experience and education:
- 3-6 years of experience in networking roles with a strong focus on analysis, design support, and documentation.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear technical documentation and support complex technical decisions.
Behavioural competencies:
- Strong analytical mindset with a structured approach to problem solving.
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, especially in written form.
- Detail oriented, quality driven, and proactive.
- Collaborative team player who works well across technical domains.
- Comfortable operating in complex environments with evolving requirements.
