MacTaggart Scott is looking for a Project Manager to take the lead on managing new and ongoing contracts within our Projects team. In this role, you’ll work independently to keep projects on track, handling everything from scheduling and budgeting to managing risks and contract details. You’ll report to the Senior Project Manager and play a key role in building strong relationships with customers, working closely with other teams to solve any challenges, and keeping project information up to date. You’ll also help support the growth of the business by identifying opportunities for new work or contract changes. Success in this role means meeting financial goals, managing risks effectively, sticking to schedules, and delivering great results for our customers.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Schedule management
  • Financial management
  • Change management
  • Risk management
  • Scope and contractual requirement management
  • Project reviews
  • Manage Customer relationships and communication
  • Contract variations
  • Customer visits and meetings
  • Customer Reporting
  • Ensure that their project(s) are progressing in accordance with the agreed plan.
  • Ensure that project information is updated and current.
  • Liaising with other departments within MacTaggart Scott to resolve any conflicts or issues to schedule, cost or resources
  • Managing and reporting on the financial performance of all allocated projects (including risk and opportunities management).
  • Ensure that invoices are raised in accordance with the agreed contractual conditions
  • Generate new business, or variations to current contracts

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to use Microsoft word packages for the preparation of reports.
  • Good Communication skills
  • Ability to work unaided and on own initiative
  • Good negotiator
  • Commercially aware
  • Hold or be able to meet the MOD security requirements
  • Be able to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through application of analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Have the ability to persuade and influence people in order to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources.
  • Be able to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Have experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage others
  • City and Guilds , Scotvec, Degree  or equivalent academic qualification
  • Experience of managing  projects

The successful candidate must hold or be able to meet the appropriate Security Clearance as required.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Have experience of working in defense and commercial industry.
  • Ideally have experience of working with an ERP/MRP, or equivalent, system.
  • Have experience of engineering / manufacturing industry.
  • APMP or equivalent
