Job Teaser

As our dedicated Keycloak Expert, you will be the definitive subject matter expert for authentication and authorization on our platform. You will be instrumental in defining the architecture, development, and operation of our User Management domain, eliminating the need for ongoing external consulting. This role is perfect for an expert who is passionate about taking deep ownership, ensuring the security and scalability of our IDP (Keycloak), and driving alignment on best practices across our international, cross-functional agile teams.

What awaits you with us
  • Design, Develop, and Operate: Design, develop, and operate services within our User Management domain, which currently includes several backend services and a dedicated instance of Keycloak.
  • Technical Authority: Take end-to-end charge of Keycloak-related technical topics, driving significant architectural decisions, and securing alignment across teams within our backend guild.
  • Modern Practices: Develop software following modern practices: API first, code reviews, automated tests, MR environments for exploratory testing before a merge, and some tasteful experimental AI augmentation.
  • Tech Stack: Work hands-on with our existing tech stack, which is mostly JVM-based (Kotlin, Micronaut), with some components written in Python and Go.
  • Deployment and Operations: Deploy (Kubernetes, Helm) and monitor (Grafana, Sentry, Mixpanel) your services within the team, with the support of our SRE team for on-call duty.
What you bring to the table

We're seeking a deeply specialized engineer who is highly collaborative and ready to solve mission-critical identity challenges.

Must haves

  • Demonstrable Deep Expertise in Keycloak: Proven, hands-on experience in the architecture, configuration, deployment, and operational tuning of Keycloak.
  • Production IDP Experience: Demonstrable experience in setting up and operating Authentication and/or Identity Provider solutions with Keycloak in a production environment.
  • Technical Leadership: Strong sense of responsibility and ownership for your topics, coupled with a solid background in software engineering processes and teamwork.
  • Collaboration: A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills for advising and aligning with cross-functional teams.

Nice to haves

  • Experience with JVM-based toolstacks, ideally with Kotlin and Micronaut.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL.
  • Exposure to Messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka).
  • Background in SaaS environments.
What we offer you
  • Work mode: We’re remote-first, giving you flexibility to work from home. At the same time, we deeply value the power of in-person collaboration. Depending on the role, you’ll join occasional team events, workshops, or meetings in our Berlin or Stuttgart offices - always with plenty of notice. The exact balance will be discussed during your interview.
  • Work-Life-Balance: We don't want you to grow roots to your desk chair. That's why we cover the costs of your E-Gym-Wellpass membership and offer job bike leasing.
  • Celebrating success: Expect highly motivated and committed people in a relaxed working atmosphere.
  • Be part of something bigger: You actively shape Flip in your role. Along the way, you are an enabler of the rapid growth process of a young tech company and grow towards your goals, fun is guaranteed.
  • Happy to be a Flipster: Stay tuned for regular team events and culture days that bring us together as Flipsters.
  • Working abroad: At Flip you can also work abroad in the European Union. Let's talk about remote work in the interview.

At Flip, everyone is welcome - no matter what gender you identify as or how old you are. Sexual identity, origin, religion, world view and disabilities do not influence your potential job at Flip. The most important thing is that YOU fit in!
