The Acquiring Operational Lead - Transaction Monitoring (AML) and Fraud Prevention is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the acquiring transaction monitoring process and managing fraud detection and prevention operations within an organization, enforcing Teya policy and ensuring Teya maintains compliance with AML regulations actively, supporting Teya’s commitment to prevent financial crime. The leader will manage a team, implement and optimize fraud detection strategies, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and work on improving operational efficiency in fraud prevention processes.

You will be used to working in a fast-paced environment and thrive upon challenge and be flexible to working extended hours subject to business needs.

Key Objectives:

  • Drive the continuous improvement of transaction monitoring and fraud prevention processes for acquiring product, systems, and workflows, aiming for efficiency, accuracy, and timely detection of suspicious activity.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, ensuring that team members are equipped with the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills to perform their duties effectively.

  • Lead the analysis of acquiring transactions, customer use and behaviour to identify potential indicators of fraud, money laundering or terrorist financing, as well as risk against card scheme compliance requirements and financial risk; Review PEP, Sanctions, and adverse media screening alert; Prepare Internal Suspicious Activity Reports.

  • Ensure that the systems are optimized for detecting suspicious activities and remain in line with evolving regulatory requirements and emerging crime patterns.

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal departments, such as Legal, Compliance, and IT, as well as external partners like law enforcement agencies and vendors.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience leading Transaction Monitoring and/or Fraud/Chargebacks teams in payments.

  • Hold an AML qualification such as ICA or ACAMS or equivalent.

  • Deep understanding of the card acquiring space.

  • Knowledge of both the UK and EU AML regulations.

  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to extract insights using SQL.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team.

  • Highly organized and have strong attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical abilities and experience with data-driven decision-making.

  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who thrives working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Be flexible to working outside of standard business hours if required.
