Department OverviewOur products leverage cutting-edge voice technology, language models, natural language understanding, video analytics, and machine learning to enable our customers to focus on what matters while providing faster responses, safer outcomes and greater transparency. The candidate will join a talented team of scientists and developers (located in Chicago, Boston, Vancouver and Krakow) in the Chief Technology Office at Motorola Solutions working on developing AI solutions for our public safety and commercial customers. Our mission is to provide meaningful value to MSI’s customers by developing domain-specific applications and services in the areas of Speech & Audio, Machine Translation, and Natural Language Understanding.
Our AI team is focused on all aspects of 1) Designing, prototyping and developing solutions (e.g. algorithms and architectures for language processing and human-computer interactions), 2) Machine learning training and optimization (e.g. distributed training and inference acceleration) and 3) Data (e.g. tools for data acquisition and annotation – both human and machine-powered, data pipelines and supporting ML infrastructure). And, of course, one of our many toolsets is the exploding field of Large Language Models and all of the engineering and scientific consequences of these exciting new technologies.
Your work will directly impact our customers in the form of products and services that make use of language and video technology. Job Description
You will join the Language & Audio group where you will be building machine learning solutions for our public safety and commercial security customers. Your work will impact all aspects of the machine learning cycle, from data curation to model training to deployment to monitoring and feedback.
Responsibilities:
Develop machine learning solutions for public safety and commercial security applications.
Work across all stages of the machine learning lifecycle, including data curation, model training, deployment, monitoring, and feedback.
Focus on application areas such as speech-to-text systems, video captioning, natural language processing, summarization, and search over public safety data.
Collaborate with infrastructure engineers and research scientists to build scalable machine learning products.
Create reusable components to support integration between research teams and production engineering.
Required Skills
3+ years of combined experience as a software developer and/or a post-graduate degree in a quantitative science or engineering
Previous experience using Python in a software development project
Previous experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments
Strong written and oral communication skills in English
Desired Skills
Experience with cloud-based infrastructure: Azure, AWS and/or GCP
Experience using version control and agile collaboration methodology
Experience with using CI/CD pipelines to build, test, deploy and scale Python services
Knowledgeable of Machine Learning fundamentals and best practices

Target Base Salary Range: $100,000 CAD - $120,000 CAD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
