Build trusted AI and automation solutions that improve how the University works

Are you a recent graduate or final-year student with strong Python foundations, an analytical mindset and an interest in solving business problems? The University of Sydney's Graduate Program is seeking an AI Graduate to join the AI Hub. We welcome applicants from any university and discipline who can demonstrate technical aptitude, curiosity and people skills.

You will help take opportunities from an initial business problem through to a trusted production service. Using AI throughout your work, you will design, code, test, document and troubleshoot solutions. Strong Python and software delivery fundamentals remain essential: you must understand, review and improve AI-generated work and apply sound judgement.

  • Python and AI-assisted software delivery
  • Generative AI, machine learning and AI evaluation
  • Cloud services, APIs and system integration
  • Automation, RPA and process orchestration

The AI Hub embeds AI in its own workflows to learn what effective, responsible adoption requires and increase the pace and scale of delivery. As your experience grows, you will contribute across generative AI, machine learning, AI evaluation, automation and service management, balancing innovation with privacy, security, governance, maintainability and measurable value. We invest in your growth through funded training, mentoring and coaching, including opportunities for industry-recognised certifications.

As an internal consulting team, we work with areas across the University to understand processes, identify the real problem and redesign work. You will help guide practical solutions through delivery, adoption and continuous improvement.

You will learn alongside a cross-functional graduate cohort, build professional networks and take part in social and development programs.

If you enjoy coding and working with people to solve meaningful organisational problems, we would like to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • partner with stakeholders to understand processes, define problems and improve how work is done
  • design, build, test and deploy production AI and automation solutions using Python and AI-assisted development
  • communicate throughout delivery and help stakeholders redesign processes, implement solutions and support adoption
  • monitor and continuously improve solutions, considering user trust, security, privacy, governance, maintainability and business value

Benefits

  • fully funded training and industry-recognised certifications
  • mentoring, coaching and support throughout the program
  • competitive salary and career development programs
  • collaborative culture and graduate social programs

Eligibility

  • recent graduate or final-year student from any university and discipline who will complete an undergraduate degree before starting full-time employment in February 2027
  • relevant working rights for full-time employment in Australia

Minimum Qualifications

  • demonstrated Python experience solving practical problems through building, automation or analysis
  • ability to understand, review, test and improve code, including AI-generated code
  • strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
  • clear communication and effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • evidence of applying AI, Python or automation to a practical problem through study, personal projects or work, including testing or deployment
  • experience improving a business process, working with stakeholders or supporting organisational change
  • familiarity with generative AI, machine learning, AI evaluation, RPA, cloud services, APIs or automation platforms
