The Systematic Fixed Income Portfolio Management team within BlackRock Systematic, has the responsibility for managing Blackrock’s Fixed Income portfolios in EMEA, across Institutional pooled funds, Segregated accounts and Hedge Funds. The team is responsible for ensuring that the portfolios meet their investment objectives and are managed in a consistent and risk-controlled manner.
BlackRock is seeking a candidate to join the Systematic Fixed Income team as an Analyst or Associate, Portfolio Manager in London. The successful candidate will work with relevant Lead PMs to ensure that active model based, views are applied to the portfolios accurately and in line with portfolio guidelines and risk budgets. The candidate will also contribute to alpha and idea generation through development of new models from signals. Team members develop analytics, reports, tools and framework to attribute performance, monitor risks and design custom portfolio solutions for clients using asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management and other related investment skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Daily management and rebalancing of portfolio investments and risks and investment of cash flows in a risk-controlled manner
- Ensure that all portfolios are managed to the highest fiduciary standards and taking appropriate levels of risk per their risk budgets
- Contribute to product development and processes through factor-based research and partnerships with Research & Innovation and Product Strategy
- Working closely with BlackRock’s Trading team to ensure optimal execution
- Working with partner teams to be on top of risk and performance metrics
- Performing cash management processes and derivative lifecycle events
- Partner with Product Strategy to grow the business and contribute to the client experience by participating in portfolio reviews and client pitches
- Be a leader towards building the future state of Portfolio Management through customized solutions using Python while working closely with various partners and towards other automation efforts
Experience and knowledge required
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in portfolio management or related role such as portfolio construction, risk management, compliance and operations, technology or trading, preferably related to fixed income portfolios
- Demonstrate knowledge and passion for financial markets
- Strong process-oriented background including introduction of controls & procedures
- Demonstrate keen awareness of operational risk issues as well as adapt quickly to changing market environments and perform under tight time constraints
- Knowledge of Aladdin tools like PfC, PfM, Dashboard and Explore beneficial
Skills and competencies required
- Coding experience is essential (Python)
- Successful experience working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Strong interpersonal skills are a must as will have to deal with several internal teams such as Trading, Capital Markets, Operations, Product Strategy, Risk and Quantitative Analysis etc.
- Demonstrated planning and organization skills and the proven ability to work efficiently under pressure. Ability to work with challenging situations in a mature manner
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a diligent attention to detail
