As part of the Visualisation & Automation function, it drives the ongoing development of a comprehensive Power BI reporting suite that supports the M&S Online function and wider partner teams, complementing deeper‑dive analytics and insight. Aligned to the vision of the Lead Visualisation Analyst, the role plays a key part in bringing data to life.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in Power BI (including DAX and Power Query) alongside hands‑on experience in building automated pipelines in SQL or PySpark, essential for supporting the scale and activity of our customer base.
What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include
- Analyse key metrics and trends to provide data-driven recommendations that support innovation and business growth.
- Collaborate with the analytics team to shape and maintain digital data architecture, ensuring best practice, consistency, and clear KPI definitions.
- Translate complex data into visually engaging insights and actionable recommendations that address key business questions.
- Drive testing and optimisation initiatives — including multivariate experiments — to enhance site performance, conversion, and customer experience.
- Champion data accessibility across the organisation by developing self-serve analytics tools, training teams, and enabling a data-informed culture.
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
Strong numerical and data literacy, with the ability to interpret and manipulate complex datasets
Advanced visualisation and dashboard development skills in Power BI, including expert knowledge of DAX and Power Query
Technical capability in building and maintaining automated data pipelines using SQL and/or PySpark
Experience working with modern data platforms such as Azure Synapse and Databricks, with additional exposure to APIs
A proactive problem‑solving mindset, with the ability to troubleshoot, optimise, and enhance analytical solutions
