We are looking for a committed and experienced Corporate Communications Manager, APJ to be based in our APJ office. This position will report to the Head of business management, Radiation Oncology Solutions, Asia Pacific Japan and India (APJ). The role will cover the Asia Pacific Japan region.

Position Summary

We are looking for a committed and experienced APJ Marketing Communications Manager to be based in our APJ office. This position will report to the Head of Business Management, Radiation Oncology Solutions, Asia Pacific Japan (APJ). The role will cover the Asia Pacific Japan region.

Location(s): Singapore, Bangkok, India

Responsibilities

You are responsible for developing and driving communication strategies with a long-term view on the business needs & patient centric solutions and are instrumental in building and strengthening the Varian and Siemens Healthineers’ brand and its role in healthcare among media, customers, patient bodies, KOLs, and institutions.

To do so, you understand the crucial role that Communications plays in translating key business priorities into high impact communication that is measurable. Therefore you will need to partner with key commercial teams and Varian’s global communications community to drive communication strategies with a long-term view on business needs and patient-centric solutions,

An important element is to reach key audiences through proactive, integrated, and impactful communication. You offer innovative communication ideas to bolster corporate reputation. You will leverage traditional media relations, launch integrated campaigns, support the company’s advocacy efforts, and enhance Varian’s digital outreach in order to drive clinician adoption of medical value solutions.
Your Opportunity
In this role, you will:
External engagements with stakeholders

  • Provide direction and leadership to the APJ team to plan and deliver integrated communications strategies, communication planning, measurement and campaigns that engage and align stakeholders including employees, the public, media, government and customers across the region.

  • Be the Communications Business Partner to the Head of Business Management for all business across APJ and counsel on his/her leadership communication and external engagement including at industry forums. You are a trusted advisor and to provide this counsel it is essential for this person to possess a deep understanding of the Healthcare business and wider environment and the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, individuals and teams across Varian.

  • Align Communications strategy, goals, and objectives with overall business priorities basing plans on thorough audience and topic research to facilitate tailored message and content design, as well as targeted delivery to relevant audiences using paid, earned and owned media.

  • Translate business and access goals into relevant projects and initiatives supported by careful planning and concrete measurements, allowing Varian to be seen as a partner of choice by customers and non-governmental / funding partners.

  • Develop integrated and holistic communications that help build, shape and protect the reputation and brand of Varian in alignment with Siemens Healthineers’ Group Communications.

  • Partner the business marketing team and product marketing team in APJ and the zones to develop and drive the medical communication strategy for clinician groups, including KOLs, rising stars, and mass clinicians;

  • Develop strategies to drive Varian’s clinical thought leadership by leveraging on existing industry platforms e.g. FASTRO, THASTRO, facilitating collaborations with key associations and recommending initiatives to boost high impact engagement, and

  • Identify story ideas and opportunities to strengthen thought leadership positioning both internally and externally

  • Oversee agencies and partners to produce testimonials, communication aids, and events, aligning with Varian’s strategic goals

Team supervision
 

  • Lead and develop a small team of communication specialists

  • Provide training, mentoring, and coaching, conducting performance reviews, participate in goal setting and goal attainment and have active development plans, for self and team.

  • Develop training plans for team members to ensure they are trained and knowledgeable on the systems and products they are required to use to maintain a high degree of professional knowledge.

  • Motivate and lead team members through a constantly changing environment.

Who You Are

  • Possess Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Public/Government Affairs or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

  • Demonstrated and possess significant experience in strategic communications in a fast paced environment, comfortable working in a matrixed and multicultural environment

  • 8+ years of experience in communications and government or public affairs with direct responsibility for media relations, preferably gained in the pharmaceutical, diagnostics or related industry, or PR agency experience supporting healthcare clients.

  • 3+ years of people management experience is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in a variety of communications disciplines: public affairs, media relations, issues management and product/market access communications

  • Possess outstanding strategic agility: thorough grasp of the healthcare/diagnostics industry and regularly applies such to create robust and innovative strategies

  • Have excellent change management skills and a proven track record of effectively driving organisational transformation, change and innovation

  • Have excellent influencing and negotiation skills: consistently extract optimized business results through skillful collaboration with others and driving results through influence without authority
