France - fully remote

We’re hiring an experienced Assistant Financial Controller for a 12-month fixed-term contract to support our finance operations in France. In this fully remote role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring timely and accurate financial and statutory reporting while maintaining compliance with French GAAP and US GAAP requirements.

This position also involves preparing documentation for accounting processes and supporting audit and tax requirements. It’s a great opportunity to contribute to a global finance function and make a tangible impact from day one.

Your role in our mission

  • Monthly Close & Reporting: Support monthly close activities for French entities under US GAAP, including journal review, variance analysis, and financial submissions.

  • GAAP Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations between French GAAP and US GAAP, investigating and documenting differences in line with group policies.

  • Process Documentation: Create and maintain SOPs and process documentation for key accounting areas, ensuring clarity, consistency, and control.

  • Balance Sheet Oversight: Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews, ensuring account accuracy, completeness, and alignment with internal controls.

  • Statutory & Tax Support: Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and support the collection of data for tax filings (including VAT).

  • Audit Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure timely, accurate statutory audits.

  • Compliance & Controls: Help ensure adherence to US GAAP, SOX-Lite, and internal accounting policies. Support the implementation of financial controls.

  • Issue Resolution: Investigate accounting issues, propose solutions, and drive improvements across processes and systems.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with shared services, external providers, and regional/global finance teams to ensure smooth operations.

Valued skills and experience

  • A degree in Accounting or Finance, with a recognized qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA, or French equivalent)

  • Experience managing general ledger close activities in a multinational, shared services, or matrix environment

  • Deep knowledge of French GAAP, and the ability to reconcile and report under US GAAP or IFRS

  • Hands-on experience with statutory account preparation, audit coordination, and tax data collection (including VAT)

  • Fluent in French and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A structured, process-driven approach, with a strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and deadlines

  • Proven ability to document financial processes, support internal control frameworks, and work independently

  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset, with the confidence to challenge the status quo and improve existing processes
