Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a leading global law firm with offices in major commercial, legal, and governmental hubs worldwide, is seeking a Business Operations Analyst for its firm-wide Operations Team.

The qualified candidate will report to the Manager of Business Operations, with a primary focus in several of our Practice Groups. The position requires a combination of analytical, project management and interpersonal skills to support the daily business operations, financial management and strategic vision of our Practice leadership team.

This position will reside in our Philadelphia office with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing financial and business analyses.

  • Creating financial and statistical models and other tools to enhance and streamline reporting processes.

  • Contributing to the annual budget preparation and subsequent quarterly variance reporting and analysis.

  • Assisting with inventory management and collections support, including tracking outstanding inventory/AR

  • Providing support for special projects and initiatives at the request of Practice leadership. 

  • Providing pricing and alternative fee arrangement (AFA) support, including blended rates, phased caps, flat fees, discounts/collars, and other value-based fee structures; supporting RFPs and client proposals as needed.

  • Performing margin/profitability and fee performance analysis (e.g., effective rate, realization, staffing mix, leverage, and key cost drivers) and translating findings into actionable recommendations for Practice leadership.

Education and experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related business discipline 

  • One to two years of relevant analytical experience. 

  • Excellent financial and analytical skills (including demonstrated proficiency in MS Office; Excel, Access, Word) 

  • Excellent communication skills, outstanding judgment, a strong service orientation 

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering the highest quality work product.
