Job Summary
This position entails overseeing the sourcing and procurement of parts, managing stock, tracking purchasing key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring timely availability of all components necessary for product assembly, and facilitating change within the supply chain. It is crucial to operate in strict compliance with purchasing processes and procedures. Additionally, the role involves executing various other supply chain responsibilities as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
Included but not limited to the following:
- Procurement of electronic and mechanical components at the best price and highest quality whilst ensuring supporting documentation meets specific requirements in terms of traceability and conformance to specification.
- Collaborate with the Planning team to expedite and align material expectations to customer commitments. Communicate Supply Risks to internal stakeholders.
- Procurement of subcontract services, consumables, capital equipment and ad hoc purchases.
- Managing availability and issuing & tracking of free-issue stock to subcontractors.
- Lead supply chain improvement projects, for new projects and changes in current Bills of Material via the ECN process.
- Inventory management to ensure supply continuity while minimizing inventory liability.
- Supplier Evaluation, Selection and Management: Evaluate and select suppliers using global audit and qualification processes and tools.
- Manage supplier relationships, and drive performance improvements.
- Collate and report on Supplier Performance & Supply Chain KPI’s using Novanta tools.
- Schedule & conduct quarterly business review meetings with key suppliers. Prepare meeting agendas and circulate meeting minutes.
- Liaise with the Quality Team in issuing, follow up and closing out of Supplier Non-Conforming Material Reports.
- Work closely with the Novanta Compliance Leaders to ensure adherence to all mandatory compliance requirements.
- Monitor market conditions, understand market constraints and ensure continuity of supply of long lead-time components / parts on allocation adhering to Novanta counterfeit material policy & procedures.
- Maintain and regularly update Item Master data including specific data relating to compliance, import / export requirements, pricing, HS Codes and Country of Origin.
- Support and develop junior purchasing team members.
- Generation and distribution of Key Supply Chain Reports
- Provide holiday cover across various roles within the Supply Chain department.
- Support the Annual Stock Taking Activity (Compulsory)
- Comply with Novanta company policy and core values.

Requirements:
Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies
- Ability to evaluate and select suppliers, manage relationships, and drive performance improvements.
- CIPS qualifications (preferred).
- Degree/Graduate calibre (desirable but not essential).
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
- Highly Flexible with Excellent Time Management & Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with an acute focus on detail.
- Understanding of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance techniques
- International trade, Incoterms and customs compliance.
- PC literate, including MRP software and MS Office suite.
- Proactive work approach and ability to escalate promptly through the correct channels
- Passionate and Ambitious with proven track record in a similar role.

- Occasional UK and/or international travel required.
- A valid passport and driving license are desirable.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility to work in a standard manufacturing and office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
