Sitting within the CASS Office, the CASS Analyst performs daily Internal Client Money Reconciliations and supporting external/client money reconciliations, maintains and evidences key control account reconciliations (e.g., client money creditors/adjustments, suspense, interest), and operates associated controls that safeguard client assets.

The role works closely with Operations, Finance, Treasury, Custody and Transfer Agency to resolve complex breaks, supports change delivery that affects client money flows, and ensures process documentation, MI and artefacts remain audit‑ready.

The analyst will report directly into the Team Manager and will engage with all other areas of the business in relation to the production of the Internal Client Money Reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production and review of daily Internal Client Money Reconciliations to agreed deadlines
  • Challenge Internal and External processes to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Prepare, reconcile and evidence key control accounts supporting client money (e.g., client money creditors/adjustments, temporary suspense, interest and fees).
  • Investigate reconciliation breaks and data quality issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing fixes; escalate promptly for items with regulatory or financial risk.
  • Operate maker–checker controls, completeness/accuracy checks and exception management across reconciliations.
  • Compile, interpret and distribute MI/metrics; provide clear commentary on drivers, trends and remediation progress.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date procedures and desk instructions; ensure artefacts are retained to support the CASS Resolution Pack.
  • Support internal and external audits, supplying samples, walkthroughs and control evidence on request.
  • Champion continuous improvement: challenge processes, eliminate manual workarounds, and contribute to change initiatives that impact client money flows and reconciliations.
  • Keep abreast of FCA CASS 7 rules, guidance and industry best practice; apply changes to processes and training as needed.
  • Collaborate with platform, operations, finance and TA counterparts across different custody models (e.g., FNZ Securities, Model A/B) to ensure end‑to‑end control integrity.

Requirements:

  • Advanced Excel (lookups, pivot tables, Power Query); confident handling large data sets from multiple sources.
  • Strong understanding of FCA CASS 7 and operational application within a platform/wealth environment.
  • Understanding of CASS rules and how they apply to the operational environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to liaise with internal and external parties at all levels
  • Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Ability to analyse, present and report complex regulatory information to senior stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Highly organised, confident, decisive and enthusiastic self-starter
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines:  and as part of an effective team as well as autonomously
