At Citizens, we work together to make a difference for companies that are building, supplying, and serving industries and consumers across the country.  In the Commercial Operations Closing & Documentation Team Lead role, you will be a critical member of the team that is responsible for ensuring loans with complex loan structures or documentation requirements are closed and documented in accordance with the credit approval. You are responsible for accurately booking and disbursement activities. Additionally, you are responsible for performing appropriate due diligence tasks, ensuring operational and regulatory risk adherence practice, and confirming conditions precedent are met prior to closing of a loan.  This role has a particular focus on support for our Private Bank with Commercial Real Estate (CRE), C&I, and other niche financing needs. As part of the Business Banking Operations team, you will thrive in this role by possessing strong verbal and written communication skills to interact efficiently and effectively with internal business partners, legal counsel, and clients. Lastly, you are expected to act as a lead for and resource to other loan closers on the team.

Responsibilities:

Serves as a lead and resource for other loan closers on the team.

Knowledge of Federal regulations, loan documentation terms and conditions including credit agreements, notes, guarantees, and collateral is required as you will act as a gate keeper for certain compliance and reporting requirements.

Responsible for ensuring loans are closed and documented in accordance with the Citizens credit approval procedure.

Accurately booking the loan to the loan accounting system.

Successfully manage a loan pipeline of 25 transactions: communicating clearly and timely to partners and customers on status and conditions.

Perform appropriate due diligence tasks, review operational risk components, and ensure conditions precedent are met prior to closing or funding a loan.

Effectively work with sales partners, customers, legal counsel, and third parties to clear all pre-closing conditions including environmental reports, appraisals, flood determinations, insurance, UCC filings and positions, and title work

Possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact efficiently and effectively with internal business partners, legal counsel, and clients.

Manage and clear post-closing legal documentation exceptions in compliance with bank policy.

Implement effective controls and proactively initiate action over key client indicators and managing loan closings within established Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).

Provides exceptional customer service while adhering to Bank policies and controls and regulatory requirements to mitigate operational and reputational risk.

Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of business partners.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a business/commercial lending environment with knowledge of CRE and C&I practices and policies
  • 3+ years customer service experience 
  • 3+ years computer skills- ability to work with desktop applications and systems.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking documentation
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of commercial real estate transactions
  • Self-starter with the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Highly motivated and team-oriented
  • Ability to manage and resolve moderately complex problems
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively manage a pipeline of credits, independently prioritizing activities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive environment while maintaining service level agreements
  • Experience with AFS, Relay, Laser Pro and Salesforce are all pluses

Education:

High School or equivalent (GED) required
Associate's Degree or higher is preferred

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 9am-6pm
