Job Description Summary:

ACC Student: Assists in a range of communications & marketing initiatives within the Office of College Relations & Marketing.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Works with the Office of College Relations & Marketing to support the district’s news spaces.

  • Supports communication that promotes the college's marketing and communications strategies.

  • Assists in coordinating communications strategies, media engagement, and news writing. 

  • Writes and edits news communications including content for social media platforms, media advisories, news releases, feature stories, publications, and other storytelling opportunities.

  • Identifies newsworthy topics and develops news stories for students and the community.

  • Conceptualizes engaging content from start to finish, including conducting necessary research and interviews to writing and editing for multiple news platforms.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of AP style writing.

  • Knowledge of news-style writing.

  • Familiarity with the regional community.

  • Familiarity and working knowledge of Google Docs, WordPress

  • Demonstrate effective customer service and communication techniques. 

  • Maintain an adaptive & cooperative work schedule. 

  • Represent the college with professionalism and diplomacy.

  • Basic practices of media relations and public relations.

Skills

  • Ability to locate, digest, and compile information quickly and accurately.

  • Ability to write quickly and effectively at a moment's notice.

  • Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.

  • Establish and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Maintain an established work schedule.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.

  • Effectively using strong interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy.

  • Reliable Transportation.

  • Driving between ACC Campus locations will be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in a standard campus, office, or similar environment.

  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.

  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.

Safety

  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
