Consulting Senior Associate position in the Sustainable Energy Solutions (SES) team of the ERM group, specializing in energy transition and low carbon technologies. 

About ERM and the SES team: 

ERM is the largest sustainable development consulting company in the world. Its diverse teams of experts support their clients by drawing on technical expertise in environmental, health, safety, risks and social issues. 

The SES team specializes in energy and low-carbon technology consulting and is involved with companies, investors and government organisations to implement low-emission technological solutions in order to help them meet the challenges of the energy transition. 

The SES team brings deep expertise in the development, commercialisation and implementation of emerging technologies such as decarbonized hydrogen and fuel cells, low-emission transportation, industrial decarbonization, sustainable buildings, electrification in the broad sense, carbon capture, storage and use. 

The 140+ SES consultants, based mainly in the UK, have the opportunity to collaborate with over 7,000 ERM consultants worldwide, located across 40 countries. 

The dynamism of our teams, our experience and our technical expertise allow us to offer innovative solutions, in-depth analyses, as well as strategic recommendations to our clients. Our clients include private companies such as energy providers and distributors, manufacturers involved in the development of low-carbon technologies, public bodies such as government and non-governmental organizations and many new players in the energy transition sector whose strategic thinking and growth we support. 

Role: 

Consulting Senior Associates in the low carbon technologies sector will be involved in producing detailed analysis and strategic recommendations for our clients. You will manage projects, carry out research and quantitative analyses on various technologies, markets, regulations and commercial strategies, always in the sustainable energy sector. You will be directly involved with your customers and will be encouraged to develop your own initiatives.  

Place:

London or Cambridge offices preferred.  

Required Skills: 

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification in physical science, engineering, economics or another relevant discipline (Minimum 2.1).  

  • Strong interest in sustainability and low carbon energy.  

  • Good skills in communication, leadership and time management.  

  • Excellent numeracy skills and ability to quickly think through complex problems.  

  • IT literate and competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  

  • Programming skills appreciated but not essential. 

Languages: English required, others valuable. 

Start date: Position to be filled as soon as possible, but for graduates the start will be timed to suit (circa September 2025).
