The Data Product Owner will manage the entire data lifecycle, lead a team of engineers, and align product vision with business goals in a remote setting.
Toucanberry Tech is a UK-based boutique software consultancy delivering high-impact solutions to the financial sector. We work in agile, cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges with speed, autonomy, and innovation.
The RoleWe are looking for a hands-on Data Product Owner to join our dedicated onshore team. We need someone with a start up mindset who lives and breathes the product, sits side-by-side with our developers, and is passionate about building exceptional backend, data-centric solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Owning the end-to-end data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation through to modelling, analysis, and visualisation.
- Converting disparate raw data into reliable, structured datasets ready for modelling, analysis, and visual reporting.
- Managing the product backlog, translating high-level business requirements into clear, actionable user stories.
- Leading a high-performing squad of engineers and analysts to ensure seamless delivery and creating a shared understanding of the product vision.
- Running product discovery, roadmap planning, and stakeholder management sessions, ensuring alignment between technical execution and business goals.
- Becoming the subject matter expert for a deeply technical data platform, with a focus on backend services, data pipelines, and API integrations.
- Championing our feedback-driven culture, continuously refining ways of working to deliver maximum value.
- Finance Transformation - experience with digital transformation within finance reporting
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a Product Owner in your last two consecutive roles, ideally owning a data-heavy product.
- Proven, hands-on experience collaborating directly with in-house developers (not outsourced teams).
- Strong technical background with significant experience in data-heavy environments.
- Experience transforming messy or inconsistent source data into analysis-ready models.
- A "modern start-up PO" mindset: you are deeply involved in the 'what' and 'why', and you are used to sitting with developers to solve problems.
- An entrepreneurial approach; perhaps you’ve helped build an MVP, secured funding, or worked in a role where you had to justify product value with clear commercial outcomes.
Benefits

- Outside IR35
- Long term contract
- £500/Day
