Job Type: Permanent 

Location: Hybrid with visits to either our Birmingham, Edinburgh or Telford offices.

Salary and benefits: £60,000 - £90,000 plus an indicative bonus range of 16-32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

The role

We are seeking a Data Solutions Lead to work within the P&S CDIO function and join us at a critical and exciting phase of our data transformation journey. This role offers candidates with a strong background in data architecture, data modelling and cloud data platforms to shape and define the target state for business-critical programmes.

Ideally bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, as a Data Solutions Lead, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end design of data solutions including ingestion, transformation, logical and physical data models with a strong emphasis on Databricks, Azure and AWS. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including solution architects, data platform owners, data engineers and analysts, to ensure the seamless integration of data, AI and analytics capabilities to empower our digital customer ambitions.

As well as being technically strong, we require excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex solutions to non-technical audiences.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, covering conceptual, logical and physical modelling and implementation of data models including 3NF, Dimensional and Data Vault

  • Designed and delivered solutions on Cloud-hosted data platforms, ideally Azure and Databricks combined with a deep understanding of Data Warehouses, Data Lakes and Lakehouse architectures, including ETL and ELT patterns

  • Excellent documentation and diagramming, able to adjust the levels of details accordingly based on the audience and outcomes desired and presenting to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences

  • Experience designing Data Product architectures and data ownership frameworks

  • Experience working in regulated environments with strong governance and risk-management requirements

  • Experience defining data solutions for AI, machine learning or conversational/NLQ analytics capabilities
