About Role
You'll work on a small team to help define and, most importantly, build the frontend and/or backend to a business intelligence application that allows the user to navigate, analyze, and explore massive data in ways that anticipate the questions that need to be answered.
Our ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with a proven track record delivering production-quality software over at least the last five years. This isn't a "connect-the-dots" dev position — our engineers must be able to take loosely defined, complex ideas and run with them, working toward that elegant result.
- Write clean, modern, scalable, and maintainable code for our web application
- Participate in code reviews
- Contribute to architecture/design discussions
- Collaborate with other team members to maintain & improve developer experience and tooling
- Join a hands-on position writing code that runs on large clusters over terabytes of data every day
- Help define the technical approach of sprint items through working with PM, UX, and Product Ownership
You have:
- 5-10 years equivalent practical work experience in Software/Computer Engineering
- Experience in Python / Typescript
- Experience in Git / Linux / Bash command-line
- Modern React programming experience and knowledge of browser standards
- Experience consuming and creating REST APIs
- Experience writing automated tests (e.g. unit or integration tests)
- Solid collaboration and communication skills while working in a remote environment
- Experience in designing and communicating solutions to leadership and stakeholders
It would also be nice if you had:
- Experience with a CSS-in-JS solution such as Emotion
- Experience with a compiled language (C/C++/Rust/etc)
- Experience maintaining a single website or product for more than one year
- Familiarity with D3, Highcharts, or other charting packages
- Familiarity with common networking protocols, routers will be appreciated
