Join Esri's team of passionate and technical engineers in our UK Research and Development centers, designing, building and deploying new geospatial tools as web services.

We need candidates that are technically driven, are effective communicators, and possess the initiative to tackle challenging problems. In return we will provide you with the support you need to achieve a meaningful and successful long-term career in DevOps engineering. You will have the chance to apply your skills in several tools from technologies such as AWS, Terraform, Helm, Jenkins, Docker and many more.

Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the Edinburgh area for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Working with Engineering teams on the design and implementation of services
  • Building and improving infrastructure to support new and existing services
  • Analyzing service metrics and building monitoring dashboards
  • Responding to incidents
  • Software security
  • Researching and proposing new approaches
  • Contributing to design discussions
  • Explaining concepts to non-technical colleagues
  • Reviewing Pull Requests & providing feedback

Requirements

  • 2+ years of commercial DevOps experience
  • Experience deploying containerized services to cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker and AWS experience preferred)
  • Experience of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and Helm preferred)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (such as Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Interest in designing easy to use web services
  • Enthusiasm for driving CI/CD process improvements
  • Smart, adaptable, and enthusiastic
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Experience with Git source control
  • Existing work authorization for United Kingdom
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience with JavaScript or Rust
  • Experience with Jenkins Pipelines, and github actions
  • Familiarity in designing and developing RESTful web services
  • Familiarity with GIS applications and technologies is an advantage
  • Understanding of Test-Driven Development

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. 

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is £36,000 - £61,200
