The Director of SEO is responsible for planning, implementing and managing the overall company SEO strategy and team. This includes but is not limited to on-page SEO, off-page SEO and technical SEO. Expertise is required in managing large and growing SEO operations/teams and building/directing strategy in the gaming and online gambling space, as well as deep experience in the sports sector for multiple domains. This person will be a forward thinker and will power the SEO team with resources and strategic direction that is aligned with a changing SEO environment. This is a leadership role that will function as the voice of SEO for the company and will work to strengthen current ops/strategy as well as implement new and optimized processes and frameworks.

YOUR CHALLENGE:

  • Direct the in-house SEO team as well as management of vendors, agencies and consultants.
  • Plan, develop and implement SEO strategy and align with the business’s overall goals and objectives.
  • The formulation of SEO strategies is done in conjunction with the Director of Content to ensure the content production is using SEO best practices and quality standards and quantity is optimal, Director of Product, Director of Marketing as well as squad teams, managing the P&L for a portfolio of domains.
  • Develop and improve the SEO process across all three pillars:
  • Technology: technical underpinnings of a website: HTML code, URL structure, HTTPS status codes, XML sitemaps, page load speed, Core WebVitals, etc.

    Relevance: content, title tags & meta descriptions, headlines, content structure, readability, topical focus, Schema, FAQ Snippets, etc.

    Authority: links and citations, sending the right signals to search engines that your website is a trusted source.

  • Provide regular site health updates and tracking on these enhancements
  • Assist other teams with technical audits and regular SEO Audits on products
  • Be a main stakeholder to provide tech requirements for tech and front-end improvements to the product, ensure there are no negative impacts to SEO; as well as providing solutions on how to mitigate any impact
  • Monitor the technical health score of multiple websites using the provided tools
  • Be hands-on and troubleshoot issues with the SEO team when your expertise is required
  • Identify blockers and areas of improvement on our products
  • Improve site health needs by auditing front-end crawls, server logs, monitoring indexation, page experience improvement, removing cache/rendering issues and crawl efficiency
  • Support other teams in site migrations and deployment checks if needed
  • Champion off-page experience monitoring, improvements and working with stakeholders to have constant healthy metrics
  • Keep up to date with SEO, social media and industry trends
  • Continue to evolve the process for inbound link opportunities and link building strategies, which can include content outreach, influencer marketing, PR, and social / link-worthy campaigns.
  • Conduct SEO training for internal team members.
  • Any other adhoc projects that may be assigned by leadership from time to time.

Leadership and team management responsibilities:

  • Managing team performance effectively through the practicing of ongoing performance management, including conducting performance reviews and regular 1-1 meetings
  • Leading by example by delivering positive results and being a visible Catena ambassador
  • Communicating effectively and ensures information is delivered in a clear and timely manner 
  • Taking ownership of recruitment and selection for your team by working closely with HR and TA teams Enabling team and individual growth from induction stage to ongoing learning and development 

TO DO IT, YOU WILL NEED:

  • 7+ years experience in the gaming, online gambling and sports sectors
  • 5+ years strong experience in SEO strategy and team management
  • Comfortable balancing shifting priorities while under deadline, maintaining attention to detail. 
  • Experience optimizing websites and landing pages with A/B and multivariate experiments
  • Solid knowledge and work experience with website development processes
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Data Studio and other industry standard SEO tools such as DeepCrawl, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Semrush , Analytics, SEO tools for excel, Google search console and Schema tool
  • Understanding of DNS, CDNs and web hosting infrastructure
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
  • Excellent project planning and management skill
  • Knowledgeable with SSR and CSR frameworks like REACT
