Director of UX and Design

ABOUT THE ROLE

The person in this role will be responsible for significantly enhancing the usability of the Rootstock ecosystem by creating a user experience that is engaging, intuitive, and supports users in achieving their primary objectives. They will ensure the interface is designed to be learnable, efficient, memorable, error-resistant, and satisfying. Additionally, they will use objective, valid, and reliable methods to measure and validate usability improvements, with the ultimate goal of driving user satisfaction and effectiveness within the Rootstock ecosystem.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and implement a comprehensive UX strategy for the Rootstock ecosystem, applying NN/g’s usability heuristics and user-centred design principles to improve user experience.
• Reduce the learning curve for new users by enhancing the onboarding experience, enabling faster completion of critical tasks.
• Improve overall efficiency by optimising the user interface to decrease the time required for common transactions.
• Enhance interface memorability, increasing task completion success rates for returning users who have had a gap in usage.
• Minimize critical errors through improved error prevention design, prioritizing a smooth and reliable user experience.
• Elevate user satisfaction, aiming for a System Usability Scale (SUS) score that reflects a high-quality, user-friendly experience.
• Build and lead a high-performing user research and design team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment that supports continuous UX improvements.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in UX design, product design, or a similar role with a proven track record of enhancing usability and user satisfaction in digital products. Prior experience in the blockchain or fintech industry is required.
• UX Strategy & Execution: Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing comprehensive UX strategies, particularly in complex ecosystems or platforms, using NN/g’s usability heuristics and user-centered design principles.
• Extensive experience in building and leading high-performing user research and design teams, with a strong focus on fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Solid understanding of blockchain technologies, decentralized ecosystems, and DeFi applications, with experience designing interfaces for Web3 or Bitcoin-based platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in UX/UI design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and analytics software, as well as experience with A/B testing, user surveys, and other usability testing methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and present complex UX concepts and strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
