Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

Coinbase is seeking aspiring backend engineers to join our team to build out the next generation of crypto-forward products and features. You will solve unique, large scale, highly complex technical problems, bridging the constraints posed by web-scale applications and blockchain technology. You will help build the next generation of systems to make cryptocurrency accessible to everyone across the globe, operating real-time applications with high frequency, low latency updates, and managing the most secure, dockerized infrastructure running in the cloud.

The mission of the Institutional, Custody team will be to enable rapid scalability and operational resilience for Custody Vault workflows through core tooling and process automation, ensuring our internal teams have the resources and controls needed to thrive in a dynamic environment.

The team will own internal tooling and process automation across multiple teams and surface areas for Custody related operations.

  • Cold storage execution tooling within Prime Admin and process automation to securely scale our business and reduce the e2e latency for our transaction processing
  • Integration between Custody platform and cryptographic signing backends
  • Middle office tooling to enable bulk transfers, auto rebalancing between wallets, scheduled transfers, and other notable gaps in our existing capabilities to support a growing part of our business
  • Lockup/Vesting tooling enhancements for token distributions
  • Custody asset enablement and configuration within Prime Admin
  • Investments in Prime Admin to bring clarity and visibility to the state of a transaction lifecycle and ability to self serve correctional actions

What we look for in you:

  • You have graduated university with internship and industry experience
  • You write high quality, well tested code
  • You build resilient and scalable micro-services
  • You’re excited about tackling complex problems and getting things done
  • You have experience executing technical tasks and projects end-to-end
  • You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together.
  • You're an excellent written and verbal communicator in English
  • This role is required to be in the UK

Nice to haves:

  • You have at least 1+ years of experience with Golang, Protobuff, GRPC, GraphQL, MongoDB, Docker, Ruby on Rails.
  • You have experience working on full stack solutions, working on both front-end and back-end components
  • You are passionate about blockchain technology and a power user of crypto exchange applications or dapps
