JOB DESCRIPTION
Fire Alarm Control & Detection Engineer - For engineers who think ahead!
As a "Fire Alarm Control & Detection Engineer" project engineer (IID&FACP), you can expect a variety of tasks in a growing, secure industry to make the world of tomorrow even safer.
What is it all about?
First of all, UL Solutions does not sell solutions or components to customers. We are a globally active certification company for all UL brands, EN, and CE certifications. UL Solutions has extensive business units ranging from fire protection, medical technology, and security to materials science. Thus, we make a significant contribution to global product safety in every conceivable industry.
Depending on the product category, many manufacturers can or must demonstrate certain tests or certifications for their products in order to be able to sell them on the global market. This is precisely where we support our customers by offering them the opportunity to certify their products with us. The certification processes can be highly complex depending on the requirements and require not only the specialist expertise of our engineers but also the ability to adapt to all possible technical, organizational, and human situations in order to provide our customers with the best possible service.
In the area of security, we are expanding our portfolio with a focus on the EU market, where UL and EN standards play a significant role. We test, for example, access control units, card readers, key systems, and much more.
The position "Engineer Project Associate IID&FACP Services" includes the scope of UL certifications with the targeted, additional option of EN standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What will your new responsibilities involve? Here's an overview:
  • Daily work: Are you a talented organizer who enjoys working in a structured manner? Are you familiar with project work and quick to find optional solutions? Then this is the position for you!
  • Questioning : It is important to us that our engineers objectively question and examine all requests and steps throughout the entire project to determine their relevance.
  • Support in the creation of offers : As an expert, you determine the necessary steps so that Sales can offer these to our customers.
  • Creating project plans, including reporting : As a project engineer, you know that good, precise planning is key to success. Regular, condensed reporting to management is part of this.
  • Planning tests in internal/external laboratories : Coordination with our worldwide laboratories is necessary for the necessary tests.
  • Regularly reviewing and adhering to planned timeframes : Our projects are always time-bound. Of course, who likes to wait for their work? Therefore, each of our engineers is fully responsible for their own deadlines. Here, you could say that structure and order are key in this job.
  • Planning and conducting customer witness tests : Some tests cannot be performed in our own laboratories. Our engineers travel to the customer or external laboratories to conduct the tests on-site.
  • Creating the necessary documentation : We also believe that no project can be completed without the necessary documentation! Especially as a certifier, our documents must be complete, up-to-date, and accurate.
  • Supporting management : e.g. during audits in the form of data revision, identifying potential for improvement, creating training plans, and later mentoring new colleagues.
  • Expanding customer contact and networking with customers : Networking is essential to providing our customers with the best possible service. As an expert, this is second nature to you.
