We are looking for an Engineering Director to own the technology platform behind the GoMining ecosystem.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines deep engineering expertise with strong product and business thinking.

You will own the Platform end-to-end — technology strategy, architecture, engineering organization, roadmap, reliability, delivery, and its impact on the wider business.

The Platform powers multiple GoMining products and includes core application infrastructure, authentication and authorization, integrations, shared services, analytics infrastructure, user restrictions, native applications, reliability, and other foundational capabilities.

This is not a role where success is measured simply by uptime, delivery, or engineering output.

We expect the Engineering Director to understand where technology creates or limits business value, make trade-offs between long-term architecture and immediate commercial priorities, and build a platform that allows the entire company to move faster.

Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Architecture
  • Own the technology strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the GoMining Platform.
  • Build scalable shared infrastructure used across multiple products and engineering teams.
  • Define which capabilities should be centralized at Platform level and which should remain within individual product teams.
  • Drive major architectural and technical decisions.
  • Identify scalability and architectural bottlenecks before they become business-critical.
  • Balance long-term platform investments with immediate product and commercial priorities.
Reliability & Engineering Excellence
  • Own platform reliability, availability, latency, scalability, and operational performance.
  • Define and improve SLAs, DORA metrics, engineering performance, and incident-management practices.
  • Improve release stability, engineering velocity, and system resilience.
  • Lead post-incident improvements and eliminate systemic reliability issues.
  • Maintain a high engineering bar without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Core Platform Capabilities
  • Own shared authentication, authorization, registration, and 2FA infrastructure.
  • Develop common account controls, user restrictions, and security mechanisms.
  • Own integrations and shared backend capabilities required across GoMining products.
  • Develop shared analytics and event infrastructure.
  • Support common infrastructure across web and native applications.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Security, and engineering teams on cross-company capabilities.
Product & Business Impact

Platform at GoMining is not an isolated infrastructure function.

You will work directly with product leaders, General Managers, and C-level stakeholders to understand where technology can unlock growth and where platform limitations are holding the business back.

  • Prioritize engineering initiatives based on technical risk and business impact.
  • Understand how platform decisions affect revenue, conversion, customer experience, and product velocity.
  • Identify technical changes that can unlock meaningful business results.
  • Balance competing priorities across multiple product teams.
  • Make clear trade-offs between speed, scalability, reliability, security, and business value.
  • Measure Platform not only through technical metrics, but through how effectively it accelerates the company.
Engineering Leadership
  • Lead and develop the Platform engineering organization.
  • Own team structure, hiring, performance, priorities, and execution.
  • Build a culture of strong engineering ownership and accountability.
  • Stay close enough to architecture and technology to challenge decisions and make informed trade-offs.
  • Develop strong technical leaders within the team.
  • Raise the technical and execution bar across the organization.
AI-First Engineering
  • Actively use AI tools and agents in your own work.
  • Introduce AI-assisted workflows across engineering, specifications, QA, analytics, and operations.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive engineering work.
  • Use AI to increase engineering velocity and quality.
  • Build a team where AI becomes part of the engineering operating model.

Requirements
      • Experience as an Engineering Director, Head of Engineering, Head of Platform, VP Engineering, CTO, or in a comparable senior engineering leadership role.
      • Strong technical background and the ability to engage deeply in architecture and engineering decisions.
      • Experience building or operating complex platforms, shared services, or infrastructure used by multiple products or engineering teams.
      • Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex cross-functional initiatives.
      • Strong understanding of distributed systems, high-load environments, reliability, scalability, incidents, and security.
      • Experience with authentication, authorization, integrations, identity, payments infrastructure, or other shared platform capabilities.
      • Strong product and business mindset — you understand not only how something should be built, but why it matters.
      • Ability to prioritize based on business impact rather than technical complexity alone.
      • Experience working directly with senior product, business, and executive stakeholders.
      • Strong data-driven approach to engineering and decision-making.
      • Hands-on experience with modern AI tools and agents.
      • Experience in fintech, payments, crypto, marketplaces, gaming, or another high-scale technology environment is a strong advantage.

Benefits
  • Professional growth: support for courses, conferences, and English learning (up to 100% coverage).
  • Work-life fit: remote or hybrid format with flexible hours across international teams.
  • Paid leave: up to 20 vacation days +  8 company holidays + 5 personal days per year
  • Recognition programs: structured performance reviews and team awards.
  • Team culture: retreats in international locations (for example, company apartments in Cyprus).

What you need to know about the Edinburgh Tech Scene

From traditional pubs and centuries-old universities to sleek shopping malls and glass-paneled office buildings, Edinburgh's architecture reflects its unique blend of history and modernity. But the fusion of past and future isn't just visible in its buildings; it's also shaping the city's economy. Named the United Kingdom's leading technology ecosystem outside of London, Edinburgh plays host to major global companies like Apple and Adobe, as well as a growing number of innovative startups in fields like cybersecurity, finance and healthcare.
