Your day as an apprentice: 

As an Aggreko apprentice, every day is different. Each day starts with a team briefing on safety and priorities You’ll then collaborate closely with a section leader and mentor who will help you develop your knowledge in product assembly and testing. Throughout, you’ll build practical skills with hands-on support and guidance, always working safely to keep everyone safe.  

 

What you’ll learn and do 

  •  Learn essential technical and safety skills through hands-on experience across manufacturing rotations—Assembly, Test, and Product Release 

  • Develop your knowledge and confidence using a range of hand tools 

  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot issues 

  • Work safely to keep everyone safe  

  • From year 3, you will transition to engineering teams to build the specialist engineering skills needed for a successful career at Aggreko

  • Collaborate with teams to deliver excellent service and contribute to key projects 

  • Use IT tools like laptops and mobile devices to support your work 

  • Balance practical work experience with college study towards a BEng (Hons) Graduate Apprenticeship in Engineering (Design and Manufacture) 

 

Program Overview: 

  • Based at our Dumbarton depot (G82 3RG) 

  • Day release to Day release to Glasgow Caledonian University   

  • End qualification: BEng (Hons)  Engineering (Design and Manufacture) 

  • Duration: 4 years 

  • Starting salary:  £20,291 

  • Start Date: August 2026

What you need to apply 

  • Four Highers at BBCC including maths and a science or technology subject, or MA/HNC in engineering (or equivalent) 

  • A positive and reliable attitude 

  • Good communication and teamwork skills 

  • Be a problem-solver, always willing to take on a challenge
