Location

While our company operates exclusively on a remote basis, you must reside and have the legal right to work in one of the following countries: the United Kingdom, Latvia, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Portugal, or Ireland.


About

We are looking for a talented and experienced Engineering Manager to join our Translations Enablement team. This team is responsible for the core translation systems of Lokalise and performs applied research to continuously improve our translations by leveraging the latest developments in large language models (LLMs) and machine translation (MT).


You Will 

  • Lead and manage a cross-functional team of 5-7 software engineers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing environment.
  • Drive the team’s technical roadmap and delivery, aligning priorities to business goals, ensuring timely execution, and focusing on creating meaningful, impactful outcomes.
  • Mentor and grow team members, empowering them to develop their skills while building a strong culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and advocate for best software development practices to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reusable solutions that meet technical and business standards.
  • Partner closely with Product Management to prioritize effectively, shape the roadmap, and support decision-making with clear insights into effort estimates, risks, and task dependencies.
  • Provide technical leadership in AI/ML development, leveraging team expertise to guide decisions and ensure optimal integration of AI capabilities into products.

 

You Must Have 

  • 3+ years of recent experience as an Engineering Manager in fast-paced, high-growth environments, ideally within SaaS product organizations or startups.
  • Proven track record of managing engineering teams and delivering projects that leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to enhance product experiences.
  • Strong technical background with exposure to backend systems, data engineering, or AI/ML in prior roles, and the ability to deeply understand and address complex software engineering challenges.
  • Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and collaborating closely with data scientists to transform insights and models into production-ready solutions.
  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive technical excellence, and build scalable systems that integrate AI/ML capabilities effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in balancing technical strategy, team mentorship, and project delivery to meet business goals and customer needs.

 

It’s a Plus If You Have

  • Work experience in the Localization industry
  • Experience in a product company during a scale-up phase
