We're looking for a data focussed Engineering Manager to lead a team of Data Engineers calculating emissions generated by industries including Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining and Chemicals.

The team uses Python with Pandas as the primary tool to ingest, transform and publish data, operating within a bespoke data platform hosted on AWS. It will be very useful for you to have experience of working with data in formats including Relational Models and Kimball Dimensional Data Modelling. While not needing direct experience of Python it’s important to have an appreciation an engineer’s role to be able to support and challenge as required.

In this role you will:

· Support and grow our engineering talent, bringing new engineers into the team and helping them have successful careers.

· Support our product team, aligning engineering strategy to product roadmaps.

· Ensure the high-quality implementation and delivery of our products roadmap.

· Defining and implement our engineering strategy - driving companywide improvements.

· Provide support for other engineering leaders in our team, helping them get the best from the team that they're responsible for.

· Help build and nurture a culture of continuous improvement and engineering maturity.

You're a great fit for this role if:

· You've led one or more high performing engineering teams; either line managing the team directly or having led the team technically.

· You love helping engineers grow their skills and their careers.

· You've got the technical experience to ask probing questions to both the engineering and product teams.

· You understand that people build software and know the importance of communication and collaboration.

Our tech stack:

We use a wide variety of tools and technologies across our products, and no-one is expected to have deep experience of all of them. Here’s an idea of what you might typically encounter:

· We run out ETL data pipelines using Python.

· Our services are deployed to AWS, typically using Lambda, ECS and Kubernetes with CloudFormation and CDK for infrastructure configuration.

· Our web products are developed using TypeScript, React, Redux, Apollo and ReactiveX

· We have a shared component library implementing our design system.

· We implement GraphQL and RESTful APIs using NodeJS.

· DynamoDB, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Clickhouse, MapBox and S3 are our go to data stores.
