About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Enterprise Risk Specialist to support model governance activities within Wells Fargo's International Independent Risk Management (IRM) function, ensuring robust oversight and compliance across the firm's expanding model landscape, including AI models.
This role is critical in driving governance initiatives forward and maintaining adherence to Model Risk Management standards and will be responsible for model onboarding, model risk appetite monitoring, model risk reporting, audit and testing engagement as well as model risk change related activities.
The role may also require occasional support with other Enterprise Risk activities within IRM, such as ICARA (Internal Capital and Risk Assessment), legal entity risk strategy reviews and reputational risk reporting, amongst other items.

In this role, you will:
- Support the governance and oversight of the international model landscape, including traditional and AI/ML models, ensuring alignment with Wells Fargo's Model Risk Management standards.
- Lead and contribute to key model governance activities, including model onboarding, risk appetite monitoring, periodic assessments, and model lifecycle change processes.
- Develop, produce, and enhance model risk reporting, providing clear insights to senior stakeholders across International Independent Risk Management (IRM) and relevant governance committees.
- Engage with internal audit, testing & validation teams, coordinating reviews, facilitating evidence requests, and tracking remediation activities to completion.
- Assess and challenge model-related risks, reviewing documentation, governance artefacts, and business processes to ensure effective control environments and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to the strengthening of model governance frameworks, supporting the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of international risk governance processes and standards.
- Collaborate closely with risk partners and front-line teams, acting as a subject-matter resource on model governance expectations, policy requirements, and emerging risk themes.
- Identify, develop, and deliver training materials to enhance risk awareness and support consistent application of model risk standards across international jurisdictions.
- Provide flexible support across broader IRM activities when required, including contributions to ICARA, legal entity risk strategy reviews, and reputational risk reporting.
- Experience in Risk Management (Credit Risk, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Stress Testing) or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work well with specialists and non-specialists across the organisation
- Experience in Model Risk Management or Model Governance, ideally within a financial services or regulated environment.
- Experience interpreting and applying risk policies, governance frameworks, or regulatory requirements, particularly those relating to enterprise risk or prudential risk management.
- Experience interpreting information for senior leadership reporting and training materials.
- Understanding of broader Enterprise Risk disciplines, such as ICARA, reputational risk, or legal entity governance.
