The Role
We are looking for an experienced Event Marketing Manager to support the end-to-end event strategy, planning, and execution for our credit business in Europe. In this role, you will collaborate across our marketing and cross-functional teams and be responsible for delivering world-class events that extend the value of the credit brands and generate demand for credit products and services. This role is a great opportunity to drive growth and make a meaningful impact on one of Morningstar's largest and fastest-growing business units.
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong B2B event marketing experience - both as a host of in-house events and as a sponsor/exhibitor at external industry events. You will also have exceptional project management and communication skills, impeccable attention to detail, and a track record of effective cross-functional and global collaboration. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, self-starter who thrives on the fast-paced nature of events.
This role is based in Madrid and reports to the Senior Marketing Manager, Brand and Events, in London.
Key Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver world-class brand experiences across our in-person and online events ensuring consistency against brand guidelines
  • Manage the end-to-end strategy, planning, execution, and brand experience of external events such as industry conferences, symposiums, forums, etc. that take place in major cities across Europe
  • Manage the end-to-end strategy, planning, execution and brand experience of small- and large-scale events hosted by the Credit group
  • Work closely with Business Development and Analytical teams to identify industry events to sponsor and attend and to select speakers, panels, and attendees for each event
  • Secure speaking roles for credit analysts and executive team at industry events to participate as panellists and moderators and identify additional opportunities to strengthen our position as an industry thought leader
  • Negotiate external event sponsorships and booth placements and identify additional opportunities for added brand exposure
  • Build and manage relationships with key industry associations and event organizers and help uncover new ways of getting in front of target audiences and key decision-makers
  • Manage event contracts and budget, working closely with vendors, partners, and internal teams to deliver all planned events on time and within budget
  • Collaborate with event marketing team members in Toronto and New York on global event initiatives
  • Work with the Design team to design and produce event booths, banners, merchandize and other brand assets for external and in-house events
  • Define, measure, and analyse the success of all event marketing activities and optimize based on data-driven insights to continuously improve our outcomes relative to our goals
  • Present progress and results to stakeholders and senior business leaders regularly - demonstrating a clear ROI from our event marketing efforts
  • Bring subject matter expertise into all our thinking and planning by staying current on event marketing best practices and finding the bridges to apply them
  • Develop, implement, and continuously evolve event planning and management best practices and processes
  • Support other event marketing needs as necessary


Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years' experience in event marketing - experience managing sponsorship and participation in B2B industry conferences, trade shows, etc. is a must; Financial Services industry experience is ideal
  • Fluency in English and in Spanish, Italian or German; fluency in more than one European language is a plus
  • Proven track record designing and delivering event marketing programs that build a positive brand perception and drive product and service demand
  • Deep expertise in end-to-end strategy, planning, execution, and brand experience management for both in-person and online events
  • Extensive experience negotiating with partners/vendors and managing large event budgets
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously, communicating effectively with stakeholders and prioritizing to deliver high-quality work within deadline
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members as well as work independently and autonomously
  • High attention to detail and a deep appreciation and proven ability for process-driven and detailed execution of marketing activities
  • Data-driven approach to creatively solving challenges and strong analytical skills to translate both qualitative and quantitative data into opportunities for action
  • Ability to travel as required
