Discovery Land Company is seeking a full-time, year-round Field Engineering Manager to join the Field Innovation Department.
Job Summary: The Field Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing a team of engineers focused on the design, installation, and maintenance of low-voltage systems, including but not limited to security systems, telecommunication networks, and audio-visual solutions. The manager will provide technical guidance, foster professional development for team members, and maintain strong relationships with corporate leadership, contractors, and vendors. Additionally, the team manager will be responsible for designing complex systems, ensuring quality control, and promoting innovation in low-voltage technologies. Strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions are essential in this role.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assigns work to and coordinates work with engineers, technicians, or administrative staff
  • Reviews and verifies the work of engineers, designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy
  • Seeks opportunities for value engineering and efficiencies in design
  • Manages and supports employee development and growth through individualized development plans
  • Assists with establishing and managing engineering budget and scope expectations.
  • Reviews construction drawings and submittals for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintains professional understanding of all applicable Codes and Standards, and construction practices
  • Maintains strong and responsive Corporate Leadership-Department relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topics
  • Maintains high ethical and professional standards
  • Provide concept design and cost estimation for low-voltage systems including security, audio-visual, DAS, OSP and structured cabling.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in low-voltage technology to innovate our services.
  • Perform quality control and assurance (QA/QC) throughout design and development to ensure standards are delivered
  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS In Construction Management, Engineering or other applicable field of study
  • Industry Accreditation from BICSI (RTPM), CTS, CTS-D or similar accredited organization

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a low-voltage engineering manager or similar role in the commercial and/or hospitality industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of low-voltage systems including access control, security, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and vendors.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
  • Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and desire to work in fast-paced environment.
