JOB TITLE:  Finance Chief Control Office Manager 

SALARY: £67,023 - £74,470 

LOCATIONS:  Edinburgh, Bristol 

HOURS: Full-time 

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites. What you’ll be doing 

This role sits within the Finance Chief Control Office (FCCO) and plays a key part in strengthening the non‑financial risk and control environment across Group Finance. The FCCO provides specialist risk and control expertise, enabling Finance to manage risk effectively, meet regulatory expectations, and deliver its strategic objectives safely. 

You’ll partner with our Group Finance colleagues, providing expertise to implement our risk strategy and ensure management can effectively discharge their accountabilities.  

There are always new issues to investigate and resolve, starting every single day with a desire to learn and improve is critical for success in role. 

Day to day you’ll be: 

  • Partnering with key Finance stakeholders to oversight and challenge the Finance risk and control environment. 

  • Supporting the review & challenge of the Finance risk and control environment, ensuring alignment to Group frameworks, policies, and risk appetite. 

  • Critically reviewing and challenging the Finance Risk Profile, including risks, controls, issues, and action plans. 

  • Managing relationships with risk and control owner teams and acting as their risk and control business partner 

  • Providing guidance, review and challenge to process and control owners in the application of the Risk Management framework for the Finance teams. 

  • Leveraging insights and expertise to help risk and control owners to improve the control environment 

  • Provide input to governance and committee reporting, including clear articulation of risk themes, emerging issues, and areas requiring management action.

What we’re looking for? 

  • Finance risk and control awareness of Operational (Non-Financial) risk categories across accounting processes and systems, with the skills to challenge risk and control owners on the end-to-end management of risk. 

  • Understanding of how Risk Management framework interlocks with Group Policy requirements in the context of Finance operationally, or can demonstrate where this experience has been held within a similar function / business area 

  • Understanding of control management and the practical implementation across relevant business area with a record of leading control design, optimisation, automation, testing and monitoring activities. 

  • Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives at pace - working effectively with all other lines of defence and understands the different but complimentary roles. 

  • Experience with Power Apps, or a strong willingness and aptitude to learn. 

And any experience of these would be great 

  • Professional Finance qualification – ICAS (or equivalent), ACCA or CIMA
