The Financial Accountant ensures the accuracy and integrity of UK financials, overseeing payroll data, bank reconciliations, and statutory reporting while supporting various finance functions and enhancing processes.
This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and control of the UK financials. As Financial Accountant, you will take ownership of core accounting activities, including month-end close, reconciliations and statutory reporting. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in detail, taking ownership and ensuring high standards of financial reporting and control.
- Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the recording of payroll data into Oracle, ensuring all client liabilities are reconciled on a regular basis
- Ensure all bank reconciliations are completed daily, across the portfolio
- Manage the weekly data analytical dashboard process, ensuring data integrity and consistency
- Support the UK & IRE AP & AR functions, including regular supplier payment runs
- Support the month end process (Prepare schedules for deferred revenue, accruals, prepayments etc.), ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all deliverables
- Preparation of quarterly VAT returns, ensuring appropriate treatment and compliance
- Review existing processes and identify opportunities to improve and drive efficiencies
- Support the UK capitalisation process, including quarterly true up calculations
- Preparation of statutory accounts and queries
- Maintain strong financial controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external requirements
- Provide technical accounting support and guidance to the wider finance team
- Support ad hoc tasks/projects as requested by senior finance team
- Additional duties as assigned
- Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Accountancy qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or qualified by experience
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with attention to detail and deadline management
- Experience of Payroll Services would be ideal, or a similar high volume processing business
- Experience in Management Accounts close process and financial reporting processes
- Confident working independently taking ownership of deliverables
- Oracle knowledge preferred
- Excellent communicator, able to work effectively across teams
