About this role

About BlackRock

BlackRock is one of the world’s leading asset management firms and a premier provider of investment management, risk management, and advisory services to institutional, intermediary, and retail clients worldwide. We offer a range of solutions — from rigorous fundamental and quantitative active management approaches aimed at maximizing outperformance to highly efficient indexing strategies designed to gain broad exposure to the world's capital markets.

Business Unit Overview:

  • Founded in 1990, BlackRock’s Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in 1990, BlackRock’s focus has been to enhance outcomes, returns, convenience, value, and transparency for our insurance partners and deliver holistic portfolio solutions.

  • With over $700bn in assets on behalf of insurers, we have a dedicated team of insurance portfolio managers, relationships managers, actuaries, and strategies to deliver the breadth of BlackRock’s global resources. We also leverage Aladdin®, BlackRock’s proprietary technology platform, and risk analytics, to support our insurance clients.

  • The team in EMEA represents more than twenty professionals with different backgrounds and expertise in the many functions that, combined, make this effort successful. These include relationship management, markets, sales, strategy, regulatory, client service, and product development next to comprehensive insurance knowledge.

  • FIG EMEA operates as part of a global FIG, which is the insurance specialised centre of excellence that delivers BlackRock’s differentiated strategy and global platform to insurers.

  • The expectations for the business are such that the team is passionate about first class client coverage as well as further improving, evolving, and developing existing relationships. This new role provides an opportunity for an individual to become an important member of a growing team, helping to shape the strategic direction of part of the business.

Job Purpose/Background:

We are looking for a candidate to be a leading contributor within FIG’s London client coverage effort. The role is multi‑functional, requiring strong execution, coordination across partner teams, and the ability to translate insurance‑specific needs into clear client materials and engagement plans. A successful candidate will be able to leverage, and where relevant, develop:

  • A strong understanding of the insurance industry (assets, liabilities, and regulation) and its implications for portfolio construction.

  • Knowledge of BlackRock’s solutions and investment products and how they can address client objectives.

  • The ability to work across a broad range of asset classes and vehicles, including public markets and alternatives.

  • Comfort supporting cross‑border engagement and coordination as FIG deepens its Global Coverage Framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a leading member of the team to deliver high quality coverage for designated insurance relationships and assist Lead RMs on strategic accounts, with accountability for relationship strength, idea origination quality, and commercial outcomes.

  • Coordinate with partner teams (including FIG PMG, Insurance Solutions, GIP, HPS and others) to deliver coordinated client engagement, scalable solutions, and efficient execution aligned to client priorities.

  • Contribute to the development of the client coverage model by generating ideas, supporting implementation of improved processes, and helping embed more scalable and consistent ways of working.

  • Engage with product and solution teams to provide insurance‑specific client input, support the rollout of new products, and help ensure BlackRock’s offering remains relevant to insurance clients.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Proven track record in insurance and financial markets client coverage, with experience in presenting to clients, identifying new business opportunities, and managing long term client relationships. We envisage the ideal candidate coming from within Asset Management, Investment/Actuarial Consulting or Insurance, Private markets solutions providers or investment banks.

  • Highly motivated self-starter with a strong ability to multi-task, a passion for excellence, significant initiative and relentless attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a strong ability to translate complex concepts into accessible messaging.

  • Technical product and market knowledge across capital markets, asset classes, and investment vehicles.
