The Role

The Finance Support role at Howden Re is passionate about improving financial performance and decision-making across its UK and international offices. This involves delivering accurate reporting, analysis, and planning, as well as supporting the Finance Director and Finance Business Partners in setting up effective business reporting functions. The role ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory responsibilities and adheres to Company policies while enabling each Business Unit to measure and achieve their Key Financial Performance Indicators.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing high-quality advice, information, and analysis to support decision-making and performance management.

  • Developing an understanding of business drivers, identifying trends, and implementing initiatives to address opportunities or challenges.

  • Producing finance packs with commentary and improving management reporting and analysis.

  • Supporting the maintenance of team structures and financial reporting systems.

  • Assisting in resolving queries related to management reporting to ensure accuracy.

  • Enhancing business processes and procedures to maintain strong financial controls.

  • Supporting business units in setting annual budgets and mid-year forecasts.

  • Building positive relationships with the wider Finance team and key contacts in Howden Re.

  • Ensuring compliance with Company policies, FCA requirements, and data protection regulations.

  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to the sharing of ideas and best practices.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ambitious, self-motivated, and adaptable to change.

  • Lateral thinker with problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.

  • Base understanding of finance and finance functions.

  • Knowledge of management accounting and provision of commercial analysis.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • (Desirable) Experience with OneStream, the insurance industry, or project and task management.

  • (Desirable) Skills in process improvement and control implementation.

Qualifications

  • ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
