  • Excellent understanding of JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript for building scalable and maintainable applications.

  • Proven experience in frontend UI development with a focus on usability, accessibility, and performance.

  • Strong grasp of core web technologies: HTML, CSS, SASS, NPM, and responsive design principles using modern layout systems like Flexbox and CSS Grid.

  • Skilled in API integration using Fetch or Axios for consuming RESTful services.

  • Proficient in using Git for version control and collaborative development.

  • Demonstrates best practices in coding standards, testing, performance optimisation, and security (e.g. protection against XSS/CSRF).

  • Experience with accessibility standards (ARIA, semantic HTML) and ensuring cross-browser compatibility.

Additional Beneficial Skills:

  • Experience writing unit and integration tests using tools like Jest and React Testing Library.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and participation in team ceremonies (e.g. stand-ups, sprint reviews).

  • Proficient in using Jira or similar project management/ticketing tools.

  • Understanding of performance tuning techniques, such as lazy loading and code splitting.

What do we offer in return?

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:

  • Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new

  • We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges

  • We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond
