As a Base Metals Trader in our Commodities group, you will have the opportunity to make your mark in the commodities markets, quote large notional sizes, and manage strategic risk of client flows and orders. You'll get to liaise with a diverse range of investors, using your communication and negotiation skills to transact effectively. In this role, you will collaborate with our Technology and Quantitative Research groups to expand our electronic capabilities and have the rewarding task of mentoring junior staff. This role offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your analytical mindset and proactive problem-solving skills will be highly valued.
Job responsibilities
- Manage strategic risk of client flows and orders
- Focus on excellent relationship management with client
- Work in close collaboration with the Technology and Quantitative Research groups in order to help grow our electronic capabilities
- Assist with mentoring and development of junior staff
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Solid trading experience within Base Metals products
- Ability to assess and understand risk around trading positions and market events
- Willingness to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment of competitive pressures
- Analytical mindset, with a proactive approach to problem solving
- Ability to operate both autonomously, and as part of a broader team with a strong focus on collaboration.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Demonstrable experience interacting with major institutional Commodity clients is nice to have
- Experience with electronic market making is also preferred
- Bachelor degree in quantitative subjects is useful.
This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
