Immigration Manager (Part-time - 3 days per week)
Job Description
The Immigration Manager is responsible for delivering immigration services for the business and ensuring compliance and mitigating risk. The candidate will provide support to all levels of the organisation on all immigration matters globally and serve as the primary escalation point between the business, Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners and our external immigration counsel. This role will leverage UK immigration subject matter expertise and operational management experience to deliver a superior employee experience and help to inform talent strategy. This is a hands on role with support from global colleagues and external advisers.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the effective management of the firm’s immigration policy and procedures, and manage the visa population in accordance with immigration law;
· Oversight of all immigration matters globally including governance of case assessment processes for new hires or employee transfers and oversight of renewals and extensions of employer-sponsored visas across all our locations worldwide;
· Advise the business on complex immigration matters/provide high-touch support, and partner with HR colleagues and business managers to ensure we can manage and develop our talent strategy;
· Responsible for oversight and management of vendors and ensuring compliance with service levels across multiple countries;
· Manage operations to ensure seamless initiation, execution and responsiveness of all immigration matters including visa extension/permanent residency requests and inquiry management;
· Review, recommend and lead execution on process improvements to our immigration programme;
· Lead communications on immigration topics including delivery of population-wide messaging, development of training and awareness materials, and hosting knowledge share sessions;
· Review and provide updates on legal changes and industry trends to be communicated to key stakeholders and senior leaders;
· Monitor local/operational compliance with right to work verification requirements; maintain governance framework of right to work verification requirements globally
· Maintain budgetting and forecast data for all immigration spend globally.
Skills And Qualifications
· 5+ years of experience, preferably working in an in-house global immigration or mobility programme for a multinational company;
· Expert knowledge of UK immigration including UK sponsorship licence Level 1 user experience is required; other global immigration experience would be an advantage but not required;
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Teams, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Workday would be a plus;
· Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and experience working with/ handling highly sensitive/confidential employee data in compliance with privacy principles;
· Excellent analytical skills including experience of business reporting and fact-based decision making;
· Proven ability to adapt, demonstrate flexibility to changing priorities and work situations;
· Strong communication and influencing skills - be able to explain technical concepts in a simple and comprehensive way to colleagues without an immigration background;
· Able to work collaboratively as part of a local and global HR team;
Additional Information
This role is part-time and can be done remotely or be office-based. If the candidate is remote they must be able to travel to Edinburgh from time to time.
