Graduate Apprentice

Plexus is offering a challenging, but exciting opportunity to join our team of engineers as part of our graduate apprenticeship programme. At the end of the programme you will have achieved a degree in Engineering: Design and Manufacture and gained four years of practical experience.

About you

You will need to meet the university academic requirement to qualify for the programme (typically SQA Highers at BBBB to include Mathematics plus Physics or similar)

In addition the successful candidate must:

  • Seize opportunities and exude high energy and enthusiasm

  • Partner with others to get work done and work collaboratively to meet shared objectives

  • Maintain relationships and exchange ideas and build networks

  • Be able to apply new work requirements with minimal supervision

  • Be proactive in seeking out opportunities to apply theory to the on the job part of the role

A Graduate Apprenticeship enables individuals to achieve a degree while being in full-time employment. A Graduate Apprenticeship (GA) provides a unique combination of work-based learning and academic study, enabling you to earn while you learn.

A Graduate Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to achieve a degree in the same timescale as a normal undergraduate degree, while building up four years' work experience at the same time.


Purpose Statement: The individual will complete their education via a combination of block release and structured on-the-job training, and are expected to achieve the appropriate degree within the duration of the programme.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Competent in required job knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks.

  • Able to apply new work requirements with minimal supervision.

  • Is up-to-date on all certifications and training requirements for role.

  • Consistently completes assignments or work requirements on time without compromising on quality.

  • Uses time effectively to manage workload/tasks.

Additional Accountabilities:

  • Supporting manufacturing operations as required.

  • Ongoing demonstration of competence evidenced in Individual Learning Agreement

  • Ongoing demonstration of Plexus’ Non-Negotiables.

  • Achievement of Graduate Apprenticeship milestones.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • Meets minimum entry requirements for the relevant degree programme.

Other Qualifications:  

  • An aptitude for learning and the ability to work as part of a team is essential.

Work Environment:

  • The work setting is a manufacturing environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a moderate noise level.
