About this role

BlackRock’s Global Product Solutions (GPS) group partners across the firm to lead the iShares business and drive the commercial priorities spanning all of BlackRock’s investment capabilities.  This encompasses innovating new products, curating the product platform, commercializing products at scale, and developing actionable market and portfolio insights. 

The Head of AI and Data Transformation will be responsible for leading strategy and oversight of GPS’s AI and data efforts. In this role, you will work as a horizontal leader, driving outcomes with partners across functions and the firm to optimally deploy BlackRock’s AI and data resources to enhance BlackRock’s entire product platform. 

Responsibilities:

  • iShares has a long history as an innovation leader in the asset management industry, redefining how investors access markets through scale, technology, and product design; this role will build on that legacy by championing the adoption of AI‑enabled tools and capabilities to unlock new growth opportunities, enhance product differentiation, and extend iShares’ leadership position into the next generation of digital and data‑driven investing.

  • Lead an AI-powered reimagining of end-to-end product value creation at BlackRock (including product innovation, product development, and product commercialization to clients) to enhance capacity, speed to market, and commercial success

  • Architect and deploy AI capabilities to accelerate time‑to‑market, enhance decision‑making, and drive sustained commercial growth across the product organization.

  • Implement a product data strategy, leveraging existing internal databases, third party tools, and client data from partner distribution firms to enhance strategic insights and support product targeting and executive decision making

  • Develop and drive a comprehensive strategy for broad AI tooling, enablement, and engagement across the entire product organization, serving as the senior sponsor and champion for AI adoption in product

  • Manage the existing set of critical product reporting infrastructure, including daily ETF industry global flash updates used by BlackRock c-suite management 

  • Educate the business on the AI commercial opportunity and establish a data-driven, results-oriented culture of success within GPS to drive adoption

  • Monitor industry trends with respect to advances in AI and data to inform strategic pivots and ensure the business remains at the forefront of innovation

  • Oversee a team of approximately 20 technology strategists and data engineers spread across San Francisco, New York, London, and Budapest

Your Experience:

  • 10+ years of work experience, experience in wealth management or investment management preferred

  • Demonstrated experience developing an AI and data strategy within a complex and nuanced global organization

  • Ability to clearly articulate objectives and influence outcomes

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience in business process analysis, design, and implementation

  • Ambitious and proactive – able to show initiative and come up with ideas without prompting

  • Technical aptitude, understanding technology in a business context

  • Experience working with distribution teams across multiple functions

  • Sense of curiosity and the courage to ask tough questions

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
