Job Description

Head of Finance Risk & Controls

London (3+ days per week)

£110,000 - £150,000k

As we continue to grow and scale, we’re on the hunt for an experienced professional in SOX and Risks and Controls to join our 1.5 line of defence team in Finance. Your work will be instrumental in strengthening our internal control environment, monitoring and reporting, and helping the business achieve its mission. 

This role provides an excellent platform for someone looking to step into a Fintech and deep dive into the inner workings of a Company that has taken the financial services industry by storm. 

 

Your Mission:

  • Drive our SOX implementation including designing and implementing governance, methodologies and reporting for our SOX program. 

  • Provide insight and support to remediate key control gaps and report on progress to senior management and the audit committee. 

  • Build formal SOX training and communications to support our first line to understand and comply with SOX requirements. In addition, provide ongoing advisory support to first line colleagues on SOX requirements. 

  • Lead a high-performing team of approximately 6  individuals, setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and ensuring successful delivery of team initiatives.

  • Partner with both finance and non-finance teams, such as IT, as needed to deliver our SOX program.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including finance teams, Risk and Internal Audit, to establish standards, policies, and develop KRIs for measuring and monitoring risks on a continuous basis

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wise’s business - Get to know many teams across finance and the business as you partner with them to help them implement a risk and controls culture

  • Grow with the role – You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and grow your own team as the business and finance function grows in complexity. 

  • Stepping stone - This role provides an excellent platform for someone looking to step into the Treasury Function of a fast growing Fintech 

 

A bit about you:

  • Theory - You have a professional finance qualification such as the CFA, FRM, CAIA, ACA or equivalent (CPA / ACCA).Detailed knowledge of risks and controls is a must. 

  • Practice - You have demonstrable experience leading and managing teams on multiple assignments preferably within Financial services and first hand experience in either testing or implementing the requirements of SOX. 

  • Love getting things done - You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility to do whatever needs doing to solve problems.

  • Commercial acumen - You understand the value of taking a balanced approach to risk and controls to support the growth of the business

  • Collaborative - You work well in a multinational team environment, and know how to have an impact through others.

  • Development - You are keen to learn and develop your knowledge of how a FinTech and fast growing scale-up operates. 

 

Our Finance and Treasury teams are spread across the globe, so there are a lot of video calls and some travel involved (potentially once a quarter).
