Why Labman
We're a team of engineers, makers, problem-solvers and support teams who enjoy what we do. As we've grown, we've stayed true to our values: being approachable, backing each other and creating an environment where people can do their best work. We're now looking for an experienced HR leader who enjoys being close to the business, solving real people challenges and developing great HR teams.

Labman is a special place. We design and build some of the world's most advanced laboratory automation systems - and we've built a culture that values curiosity, excellence and fun. If you’re an experienced HR professional who wants to make real impact, help shape the future of a growing business, and work alongside people who genuinely want to get things done, we'd love to hear from you.

The role
This is a hands-on HR leadership role reporting to our Head of People & Culture. You'll lead a small but mighty HR team turning our wider people strategy into practical, consistent and legally compliant delivery. You'll lead and develop the HR function, supporting managers with expert advice, taking ownership of employee relations and employment matters, driving improvements to policies and processes, and ensuring HR continues to evolve alongside the growth of the business.

We're around 240 people and growing, which means you'll be joining at an exciting time. There are strong foundations in place, alongside plenty of opportunities to influence, improve and make your mark.

This is a role where you'll be close to the detail: coaching your team, supporting managers, handling complex people matters and continuously improving how we do HR. You'll have real autonomy, while working closely with the Head of People & Culture and wider leadership team to shape how our people strategy comes to life.

What we're looking for
You'll bring significant HR experience gained across a range of organisations, ideally including a growing or privately owned business, along with a proven track record of leading and developing HR teams.

If the quality of the work and the quality of the people around you matter, we'd love to hear from you.

Essential

  • CIPD Level 7 qualified, ideally Chartered Member (MCIPD), or equivalent experience
  • Proven HR leadership experience
  • Strong expertise in employee relations and employment law
  • Experience in performance management and employee development
  • Experience developing and maintaining HR policies and governance frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems, people data and reporting
  • Proven ability to coach managers and build effective stakeholder relationships
  • Succession planning and talent development

Company Benefits:
33 day's annual holiday (rising to 38 over 5 years) inc. public holidays
5% employer pension contribution (Royal London)
Aviva Health care
Life Assurance
Enhanced maternity & paternity pay (long service applicable)
CPD support and annual subscription to appropriate body covered
Free inhouse gym, squash, bouldering wall, and countless clubs

Labman Values:
IN IT TOGETHER - Shared effort, shared success
EXCELLENCE - Delivering the highest quality in everything we do
HUMILITY - Grounded, respectful, and always learning
SUSTAINABILITY - Building a business that lasts
FUN - Friendly, enthusiastic, and a bit different

If this sounds like the kind of role you've been waiting for, we'd love to talk.
