Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure team within the Shared Technology Services department. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining GiG’s infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide technical support and deliver innovative solutions that align with the organization’s goals. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will manage a diverse infrastructure environment, comprising on-premises physical, virtual, and multi-cloud platforms. Your key responsibilities will include documenting, implementing, and maintaining physical and virtual server infrastructure, networking (both physical and virtual), storage area networks, Microsoft and Linux server technologies, Kubernetes, and public cloud platforms. You should have a high level of technical expertise, a passion for working with cutting-edge technologies, and a strong commitment to operational excellence. Meeting project deadlines, demonstrating a collaborative approach to problem-solving, and adopting an infrastructure-as-code mindset are essential. Key Responsibilities:

● Infrastructure Design & Deployment: Design, implement, and maintain network, server, and storage infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

● Systems Administration: Manage and monitor systems, such as virtualization platforms, containerization platforms, operating systems, load-balancers and cloud infrastructure

● Network Management: Configure and maintain network hardware and software (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, CDN) and ensure connectivity between different systems and locations.

● Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor infrastructure health and respond to alerts and incidents to minimize downtime. Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

● Security: Ensure infrastructure is secure by implementing best practices for network security, data protection, and compliance with security policies.

● Backup & Disaster Recovery: Design and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies to protect critical business data.

● Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency in managing the infrastructure.

● Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.

● Collaboration: Work closely with other teams to provide infrastructure support and ensure seamless integration with other systems.

● Vendor Management: Liaise with external vendors to manage contracts, troubleshoot issues, and implement third-party solutions as necessary.

● 24x7 On-Call Support: Participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation to ensure infrastructure availability and rapid incident response.

● Travel: Be available to travel and work abroad as required to support international operations or projects.

● Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest infrastructure technologies and recommend improvements to enhance performance, scalability, and efficiency

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

● Experience: 3 years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role within IT operations.

● Technical Expertise: ○ Strong knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, VLAN, VPN) and network security. ○ Proficient in managing virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM, Hyper-V). ○ Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments. ○ Experience in working with Content Delivery Networks (e.g., Cloudflare) ○ Familiarity with server hardware, storage solutions, and backup technologies. ○ Strong experience in Windows and Linux server administration. ○ Scripting and automation skills(eg., Terraform, Ansible, Bash, Powershell and Python)

● Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.

● Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.

● Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

● Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, contributing to the overall success of the Shared Technology Services department.

● Flexibility: Willingness to be on-call as part of a 24x7 support rotation and to travel internationally when required.
