About your role:
 

The position of Intercompany Accountant will form part of the Corporate Financial Control team.

The Corporate Centre Financial Control team are responsible for:

  • Accounting and reporting for the corporate functions including Treasury, DTS, Property, HR, along with other shared services and corporate business units.

  • Supporting both Group Functions CFO, and Group Head of Treasury with business priorities.

  • Accounting and reporting for centralised people costs, fixed assets and intercompany processes.

  • Establishing a strong control environment across all functions and centralised processes.

As part of the Corporate Financial Control team, this role has primary responsibility for the centralised group accounting processes in relation to intercompany, and to assist the wider Corporate Centre Financial Control team.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Maintain and control intercompany (IC) balances in collaboration with Group Treasury and Corporate Financial Control team.

  • Assisting with the accounting for dividends, interest, commitment fees, withholding tax and reconciling foreign currency exchange differences.

  • Timely distribution of IC loan statements, ensuring they reconcile to SAP.

  • Identify process improvements including automation to the IC processes to minimise manual intervention at month end.

  • Manage Accenture offshore team and review the processes they run related to IC.

  • Assist in developing, documenting and socialising Inter Company Policies, processes and controls.

  • Support Corporate Financial Control month end processes.

The inherent nature of intercompany means this role will be working with multiple teams across finance, including the FC teams in UK, Denmark and Ireland as well as other business units, Group Treasury, Group Tax, Legal and the Group consolidation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to gain valuable exposure across the Centrica business and take the next step in their career.

Here's what we’re looking for:

  • Qualified accountant

  • IFRS knowledge particularly re the appropriate accounting for IC funding (including FX treatment).

  • Experience in dealing with auditors.

  • Good systems skills (use of O365 products, excel, power query).

  • Experience of accounting (or auditing) a large organisation with multiple entities and multiple currencies.

  • Willingness to learn SAP systems (SAP ERP & BPC) and Quantum treasury management system.
