Job Summary:

As a Software Engineer on the Platform team at AutogenAI, you will work on a combination of application infrastructure and developer infrastructure challenges to make our product and product team go faster 🚀 This can include many topics; improving auth/RBAC, building feature flag tooling to facilitate rollout of new features, spotting re-usable tooling and packaging it, or transitioning our repositories to a monorepo to improve build times. You will be joining a global team of DevOps Engineers and Software Engineers. You will work closely alongside DevOps Engineers to improve our Platform, so this is an ideal role for a software engineer eager to learn more about DevOps/Infrastructure, and keen on doing a bit of everything. While a lot of the work has a focus on improving things behind the scenes, we are expecting to play a key role in the business next year as more enterprise customers onboard and require platform changes to effectively integrate with them – so there are many opportunities ahead to have direct business impact through this role

What you'll be responsible for:
  • Building and maintaining application infrastructure: This is the layer of the product that isn’t tied to a specific feature, but impacts the whole product – e.g. auth, RBAC, logging, monitoring. You will work closely within your team to make major improvements and changes to the application infrastructure.
  • Improving the developer experience at AutogenAI: This encompasses deployment pipelines, local/remote development tooling, and anything that might improve the developer experience. This will be a combination of planned major improvements, and ad hoc improvements that you might spot and implement in an agile way.
  • Collaborating with the wider engineering team: You will have a lot of autonomy in this role to suggest the next improvements to implement; this means you should be building ties with the wider engineering team so you can figure out what might help them. You will collaborate with them through joint projects, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • Technical Expertise: You have experience implementing changes in your previous roles. You’re eager to bring those skills to the table and make changes.
  • Communication Skills: You can quickly build rapport inside and outside of your team. You’ll learn how other teams work, and try to spot ways we can improve their lives.
  • Adaptability and Initiative: You’re enthusiastic about taking on new challenges and learning about new domains. You’re not afraid to point out inefficiencies and suggest improvements
  • Ownership: You care about the changes you make and the code you maintain; you want to see things working

Requirements:
  • Experience: 2+ years working on technical projects
  • Technical Skills: Fluency in a programming language; proficiency with relational databases; familiarity with common platform tooling, such as Docker, scripting, aws commands (or equivalent in the cloud provider you have used), or GitHub Actions
  • Interest in Platform Engineering: The most important! We want you to be eager about learning and getting stuck in.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Typescript/Python experience: These are the main languages we use
  • React experience: Our domain doesn’t have much frontend work but does have some in our internal tooling. You don’t need to love it, but it will be helpful if you have some experience and willingness to knock out the occasional frontend task!
  • Platform/DevOps Experience: You’ll be working closely with DevOps Engineers; however, it will be helpful if you have the skills to unblock yourself on DevOps tasks

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive Salary: £40,000 - £85,000 depending on specific experience and qualifications relevant to the role.
  • Stock Options: Meaningful equity in the company.
  • Retirement Plan: Pension scheme to help secure your future.
  • Paid Time Off: Unlimited vacation (Yes, you read right!)
  • Flexible Work Options: Remote working arrangements
  • Private Healthcare: Bupa Medical and Dental cover
  • Life Insurance: Peace of mind for you and your family
  • Paid parental leave: 16 weeks if you’ve just given birth, 4 weeks if your partner has just given birth (after one year of year of service)
  • Additional Perks: Your choice of laptop (Mac or Windows), regular company events to connect with teammates, and opportunities for continued professional development.

Values in Action:These aren’t just principles we print and forget – they’re how we work, how we treat each other, and how we deliver for our customers. They shape the company we are, and the one we aspire to become.
  • Customers, Always: Everything starts with our customers. We walk in their shoes, speak their language, and build for their delight and success. We win when they win.
  • Make It Happen: We move fast and take ownership. No waiting, no red tape – just action, urgency, and focus on outcomes. We ask for forgiveness, not permission.
  • Learn and Invent: We stay curious. We learn what we can from past masters - and make up the rest. Change is constant, and so is our growth.
  • Act Like Owners: Titles don’t solve problems - people do. We own challenges, break the rules when it’s necessary, and focus on what matters.
  • Turn It Up to 11: There is no “Good enough”. We raise the bar, push boundaries, and keep building. There’s always a next level.
  • Lead With Respect: We listen first, speak honestly, and value every perspective. Integrity, follow-through, and kindness matter.
  • Build Trust Through Transparency: We default to openness. We give feedback, share information, and assume positive intent - no secrets, no silos.
