FNZ is on a mission to make wealth management more accessible, inclusive, and scalable worldwide. Supporting investment platforms used by over 20 million people, our EU/UK Network Engineering team underpins the critical infrastructure that powers global wealth technology.

We’re looking for an experienced Lead Network Engineer to join our Platform Services function. Reporting to the Head of Platform Services, this role combines deep technical expertise with hands-on leadership — owning the stability, evolution, and optimisation of FNZ’s enterprise network estate across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.

What you’ll be doing

As Lead Network Engineer, you’ll act as the senior technical authority for networking across the region, while also leading and developing a team of engineers. You’ll be a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, driving resilient, secure, and future-ready network solutions.

Technical Leadership & Operations

  • Leading a team of Network Engineers, managing BAU and project workloads
  • Acting as the highest level escalation point for EU/UK network incidents
  • Owning lifecycle management of network infrastructure, including upgrades, optimisation, and consolidation
  • Ensuring high availability, performance, and security across complex enterprise networks

Design, Strategy & Improvement

  • Defining and evolving network operational procedures and standards
  • Partnering with Network Architecture to trial and deploy new tooling and infrastructure
  • Evaluating existing technologies and recommending improvements and optimisations
  • Enhancing and expanding automation to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Working closely with business units to deliver network solutions for new and existing systems
  • Providing clear reporting, insights, and recommendations to the Head of Platform Services
  • Translating complex technical concepts into meaningful business outcomes

What we’re looking for

You’ll be a technically exceptional leader who thrives in complex, high-availability environments and understands the real-world business impact of network decisions.

Essential experience:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience configuring and maintaining enterprise-class, highly complex networks.
  • Extensive experience in managing teams of engineers and empowering people to deliver efficient and meaningful outcomes.
  • Extensive experience managing and deploying network infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and public cloud environments.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting network issues and managing incident response.
  • Deep technical expertise and experience in:
    • Overlay and Fabric technologies (VXLAN, Megaport, Equinix Fabric)
    • Network segmentation and VRF design
    • Network security design and zero-trust principles
    • Traditional ADC Platforms (F5 LTM/GTM)

Desirable experience in the below areas would be advantageous:

  • F5 Distributed Cloud
  • Network automation and orchestration (e.g: Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • LogicMonitor or similar enterprise grade monitoring platforms

What you’ll need to succeed at FNZ

  • A calm, decisive leadership style with strong problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
  • The ability to balance operational stability with innovation and change
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability

Why join FNZ?

At FNZ, you’ll work at the intersection of finance, technology, and global scale, alongside highly skilled teams who are shaping the future of wealth management.

We offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Flexible and hybrid working options
  • Global career opportunities across UK, EU, US, Canada, South Africa and APAC
  • Private health and life insurance
  • Fully funded training and development
  • Paid parental and volunteer leave
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture
