As a Lead Software Engineer within Identity Engineering you will enable a squad of engineers to deliver large, exciting initiatives. You will contribute to and be part of an engaging, dynamic and inclusive engineering organisation.
Lead Software Engineers are empowered to make important architectural decisions and to build a roadmap of future changes working in partnership with peers across Product, Project Management, and Engineering.
We follow Scrum and Agile principles, make use of continuous integration and deployment, believe in phenomenal collaboration, and our motivated by a shared commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Our team builds and delivers Consumer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) capabilities for The Walt Disney Family of Companies including: Parks and Experiences, Disney+, ESPN, Hulu, Disney Store, ABC, Star Wars, Marvel, NatGeo, and more. To do this we build and run highly available and globally replicated systems that power each customer's journey across our services and experiences.
What You Will Do

  • Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of stateful microservices and lambdas in a multi-region cloud environment.
  • Promote and support Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban by leading regular ceremonies such as stand-up, retrospectives and sprint planning.
  • Mentor engineers within your squad (and beyond!) to help them improve their technical ability and build their profile within and outside of the organisation.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, Operations, and other business partners to understand requirements and articulate technical decisions and outcomes.


What To Bring

  • Experience with one of these Java Virtual Machine (JVM) languages: Scala, Kotlin or Java.
  • Familiarity with a cloud provider: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Compute (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
  • A willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies.


Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with both object oriented programming (OOP), and functional programming (FP) standard methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Terraform, and infrastructure as code (IaC), and DevOps.
