We're looking for a Lead Technical Business Analyst to join our Delivery team - someone who thrives at the intersection of complex technical systems, business needs, and delivering value. You will work closely with Product & Delivery Managers, Architects, and client-facing teams to translate business objectives into clear requirements, supporting the delivery of complex technology initiatives, including major procurement programmes and cloud data platform projects spanning AWS, Azure and GCP.

This role requires a sharp analytical mind, exceptional attention to detail, and a structured, methodical approach to eliciting, analysing, and documenting complex business and technical requirements. You’ll build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, using your communication skills to understand business needs, navigate ambiguity, and drive alignment across complex procurement and technology programmes. Operating at Lead level, you’ll bring structure and clarity to challenging conversations, facilitate collaboration between business and technical teams, and ensure requirements are clearly articulated, thoroughly analysed, and aligned to business objectives. Technical understanding is important, but the ability to ask the right questions, build trust, influence stakeholders, and produce high-quality analysis is key to success in this role.

The role will be primarily remote based, with travel to client sites (primarily in Croydon) as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders across business and technical teams, establishing a clear understanding of their objectives, priorities, and requirements.
  • Lead requirements elicitation through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and collaborative working sessions, ensuring business needs, constraints, and expectations are thoroughly understood.
  • Analyse, structure, and document complex business and technical requirements, producing clear, comprehensive, and traceable requirements documentation to support major procurement and technology programmes.
  • Translate business objectives into well-defined requirements, user stories, functional specifications, and supporting artefacts that provide clarity for procurement, solution design, and delivery.
  • Challenge assumptions, identify gaps, dependencies, risks, and conflicting requirements, and work with stakeholders to reach consensus and drive decisions forward.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, product teams, and delivery managers to ensure requirements are understood, feasible, and appropriately reflected in proposed solutions.
  • Support requirements validation, acceptance criteria definition, test planning, and user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring proposed solutions meet agreed business needs.
  • Apply technical understanding to assess system capabilities, integrations, data flows, and solution constraints, contributing to informed analysis and decision-making across a range of technology projects.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Haves

  • Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst or Systems Analyst with a strong track record of eliciting and analysing complex business and technical requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage, influence and communicate effectively with business stakeholders, senior leaders and technical teams.
  • Experience supporting major procurement programmes and large-scale technology projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to produce structured, traceable functional &non-functional requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to lead workshops, challenge assumptions, manage conflicting perspectives, and drive consensus across business and technical teams.
  • Experience translating business needs into clear functional requirements, process flows, specifications, and other artefacts.
  • Sufficient technical understanding to engage credibly with architects, engineers, and delivery teams, and to interpret technical documentation, system diagrams, data flows, and integration requirements.
  • Experience working within both Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies, able to adapt analysis approaches as needed.
  • Understanding of requirements validation, acceptance criteria, test planning, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and concepts including distributed systems, event-driven architectures, APIs, and data flows.
  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Understanding of technical concepts such as RESTful services, OpenAPI/Swagger, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and microservices.
  • Previous involvement in cloud infrastructure, platform, or enterprise technology programmes.
  • SC/NPPV3 clearance and experience working within central government.
