Role and Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities

The Legal Counsel will provide high-quality legal support on contracts & commercial matters across the Europe Office. The role focuses on the delivery of technically stronly, prompt and pragmatic legal advice, drafting and negotiating of commercial agreements, and support for key projects, operating under the strategic direction and oversight of the head of team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial contracts across a wide range of areas including marketing, software services, payment and wallet contracts, distribution, and data agreements.

  • Advising the business on appropriate deal structures and the contractual documentation required to suport proposed commercial arrangements.

  • Support pan-European projects, collaborating with local European affiliate legal teams as required.

  • Provide timely and pragmatic legal advice to business stakeholders, balancing commercial objectives with risk mitigation.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of contract precedents and processes.

  • Represent the Europe Office Legal team in internal and external meetings, influencing senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

  • Support continuous improvement of legal processes and ways of working within the team.

  • Provide informal mentoring or support to junior colleagues as required.

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practice.

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • UK-qualified solicitor with approximately 1-5 years PQE (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, ideally across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Experience advising on general commercial matters.

  • Commercially minded, pragmatic, and culturally aware, with strong attention to detail and risk mitigation.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to non-lawyers.

  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively within a team and autonomously.

  • Capacity for broad issue spotting in relation to GDPR, IP and employment issues.

  • Working knowledge of Korean language an advantage but not essential.

  • Delivery of high-quality, timely legal advice on commercial matters within minimal rework.

  • Effective collaboration with the team lead and other stakeholders, escalating issues appropriately.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the business, risk appetite and ways of working.

  • Recognition by stakeholders on responsiveness and quality of support.

  • Contribution to team efficiency through process improvement, template development or knowledge-sharing.
