Job Description
In the Software & Control (SWC) campus in Katowice, we are looking for an accomplished Software Development Manager to join our software engineering team. You will lead a multi-functional group of 40+ people, including several agile teams, architects and first line managers responsible for the development of our industry-leading design software IDE. Duties will be performed in a global environment collaborating with teams and leaders in Asia, Europe and the United States. You will report to the Director/Site Leader and have responsibility for and influence on both local and global operations of the product line.
Your Responsibilities:- Responsible for the continued development and motivation of a highly productive software development group that consistently delivers exceptional product solutions to our customers that are robust, stable, extensible and cost-effective.
- Responsible for agile engineering processes, requirements definition, system design, implementation, verification, testing, and release, ensuring the release's success and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in the creation and execution of product development and delivery strategies – a strategic and visionary "leader" in the software discipline.
- Recruit, develop, and review department personnel, ensuring succession plans are in place for key personnel. Develop and coach leaders, providing opportunities for increased responsibility. Experience building a team and hiring successfully are critical.
- Establish and maintain budgets, product development plans, schedules and procedures required to accomplish department and business objectives.
- Work with team members and peer managers to develop, implement and continuously improve development processes, ensuring quality products are delivered in a timely, predictable manner – "make Rockwell Automation better".
- Expected to drive the knowledge and application of Generative AI tools, identify architecture simplification, and incubate technical innovation within the team to enhance business innovation, productivity, and engineering efficiency.
- Handle critical problems, decisions, and escalations and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate globally with other key SWC programs to share information and promote common software development practices and strategies.
- Ensure product development activities comply with corporate and business-level processes and global standards, including global security compliance standards.
- Work with leadership to understand and implement the vision of a performance-driven and collaborative workplace. Drive the inclusive and high-performance culture of the team to develop a world-class engineering organization.
- Create an environment that promotes new ideas and effectiveness, fostered by intense collaboration in a hybrid workplace arrangement.
- Bachelor's Degree in Software Development, IT or a similar technical discipline.
- Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in product development.
- Minimum of 6 years of technical and people leadership experience, including leading managers and individual contributors.
- Excellent track record of developing early career talent into technical and people leaders and upskilling team members to support future technologies and investments.
- Deep technical understanding of software development process, tools and techniques used in mature, complex and reliable solutions.
- Effective hands-on management and able to work across teams effectively.
- Expertise with enterprise class products and solutions.
- Practical experience leading development of solutions requiring integration of multiple software and hardware components.
- Legal authorization to work in Poland is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies, ideally in a Scaled Agile Framework.
- Experience in building products and solutions for industrial automation, manufacturing systems or similar applications including background with large-scale system development projects.
- Experience working with global team members on multi-campus product development.
